When I hear the ex's voice, sends me into depression

Am I the only one this happens to? I do great when I have no contact with the ex. I'm really trying my darnest to move in the right direction in life... but then he calls and tells me about his financial problems and asks me for advice - when we've already been through this a million times... makes me horribly depressed! I was having a great day until he called to ask me what he sould do about the house because he can't afford it... goddamn... I already told him he needs to sell or at least try to sell the damn thing or get a roomate or what not... but he acts like he's waiting for a bolt of lightning to come down and give him a miracle. I guess I'm more pissed than depressed because I don't want to be his "mother" any longer. I wish he'd grow some balls and be a man and leave me the hell alone!!!! So I can move in a positive direction.

Well, I guess you could take the direct approach and say to him:

"I wish you'd grow some balls and be a man and leave me the hell alone!!!!"

 

I can remember vividly what my ex's voice sounds like. A phone call would be worse though.

The obvious answer is to block his number, change your phone, and otherwise stop responding to him. Eventually he'll get the picture and leave you alone.

 

But I'm guessing you have very mixed emotions about the whole thing and that's why you're continuing to talk to him. When the pain becomes overwhelming is when you will probably decide to put a stop to the communication. My guess is that in the meantime, you are hoping you will hear him say "I miss you and I want to try again" or something similar?

try going NC for a bit.. (like don't answer the phone... avoid him, ect) i know if i heard from my ex ( as much as i miss him and want to ) it would erase all my progress trying to get over him. (especially since they probably just miss you but dont want to get back together)
