blair08 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I know we all can be indecisive at times, and can't quite make up our minds on things. However, people who are like this with just about every decison in their lives, do you think it maybe comes from having their mind made up for them as kids? Like a parent making choices for them, when kids (who are old enough) should or could be learning to make decisons and choices on their own? I just never understood why some can never make up their minds about any thing in their life. They seem on the fence about alot of things, and not sure which way to go, or what choice to make about things.

Maybe sometimes they are given to many choices, there fore making it more difficulat to decide. Of course that might depend on what the issues and choices are. I know I have read before, people who suffer from depression and anxiety sometimes have a difficult time deciding on things too.
Nemo Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I thought that I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

Author blair08 Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 I thought that I was indecisive, but now I'm not so sure. Exactly! My hubby is like this. Its not just with some things but just about ALL things. I have pretty much always known him to be like this, but never really understood why. He seems to be having more trouble deciding on things the older he gets too. Its almost like when he does make a decison about something he will second guess himself and the choice he made. It almost comes across that no matter what decison he adventually comes to, he feels he is not happy with that decison. Or he will stall for long periods of time and not make a decison at all, for fear of making a wrong decison. I have asked him before why he feels he is this way, he says he doesn't know, and maybe he doesn't. It can be frustrating, Especially when we are trying to make a mutual decison on something and he can't seem to make up his noodle one way or the other.

I just never understood why some can never make up their minds about any thing in their life. They seem on the fence about alot of things, and not sure which way to go, or what choice to make about things. Some people are probably indecisive because they don't want to speak out what they really think in fear that they might be rejected or their idea isn't popular enough. So in hopes to keep everyone else happy, they rather not decide and, instead, allow someone else to make the decision(s) for them.
tinktronik Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I can be like this at times, on many issues both sides have valid pros and cons and I can see both sides. So I come to a difficult decision deciding which set of pros and cons to side on.
