systemic7 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 One of my friends has turned me on to this service, http://www.mixtt.com, which looks to be launching soon and seem to be in the "beta stage" where people can still sign up for free accounts. Anyway, I must attest to never having gone on a "group" date, which is what this service is, before. I'm willing to try anything once, though, and this does sound much more ideal than online dating in general, since those can turn out to be more or less blind dates at times. Naturally, I do have a few reservations, but after my last relationship fizzled the way it did something more "group" involved is sounding very appealing right now. So is anyone else familiar with the group dating scene already, or hear anything about this service in particular?
MJR Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Systemic, in all honesty this is just another dot com ploy to cash in on the current networking craze. I checked the link and there is no service here. It's just another hopeful Myspace spin off. The electronic means to expanding your social horizons are already plentiful. I see nothing special. The "group dating" essentially espoused here is better known as a social circle. And I'll tell you, my friend, anyone who says, "I'm willing to try anything once" has most certainly, in my eyes, earned their battle scars in the online dating scene. Look to your hobbies and explore completely new ones, then find groups that revolve around them. You're better off. Keep it flesh and close to home. Ignore the online trends.

I guess it could be as you state, but a Google search gave me the impression that there is a definite slant toward the dating angle here. Anyway, you can call me optimistic, but I'm hopeful about it at this point in time. Regardless, though, thanks for your input MJR on the matter of "social circles", as you dubbed it, appreciate it.
