Angels&Airwaves Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I met up with an old friend of mine who I haven’t seen in eight long years; she moved out of my town and recently came back with her mother, after she (the mother) separated with her father. She found me using face book and sent me a friend request and then a message asking me if we could meet up after all this time. I was shocked, I thought I’d never see my friend again, but I was delighted to hear from her again and of course I accepted her invitation. We met and had a good time, but she made a few remarks about how youthful and young I look, I am in the last year of my teens and according to her I look around fifteen/sixteen. For a male, it’s quite irritating, if not somewhat flattering. It’s irritating, because she is not the only person to say that, I can count on both hands the amount of people who have passed similar comments. I was refused alcohol in a local shop last summer despite having legitimate identification, the shop keeper called me a thirteen year old trying to dress and behave older. However this all changes when I grow stubble and suddenly I look my age or a year older, it’s all too confusing and somewhat annoying. I don’t grow stubble often, because I prefer the clean shave appearance. I’m just wondering if anyone else has the same problem, gender/sex is irrelevant because I know a lot of girls who are older than they look, but I have always wondered if this is one of the reasons why I can’t seem to get any female attention
Lizzie60 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 That's quite common to feel that way when you're in your teens.. trust me.. it'll change in your 'ties' Grow a moustache..
jerbear Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Hey if you look younger, have you considered a job in Hollywood? Really there is not much in between the Disney crowd and the established crowd.
Author Angels&Airwaves Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 Well I didn’t get an answer to my question, so I’ll look elsewhere for the answer, thanks for nothing.
NoGame Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Its not that great to be honest. I'm 23 and most people think I am 17 or 18. I get carded for everything, movies, alcohol, m- rated video games. I've even taken to growing out a goatee and mustache, but people still think I'm 19 or 20. I caught a group of people at a place where I volunteer betting to guess how old I am. It's embarrassing for me to say the least. Also makes it so the girls I'm attracted to aren't so into me because they think I'm too young. And the girls that like me, I'm not about to talk to because of their age. So yes at this point it time I believe it is a negative. Maybe when I'm 40 or 50 I might like looking young, but its terrible right now.
Art_Critic Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 You might consider it to be a negative today but when you get older it flips and turns into a positive... Trust me.. I have always looked young and today at 45 I see the positive..
monkey00 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 That's not so bad, I'm 23 and people have often mistaken me for my late 20's, once even someone guessed 30. Though there is a downside to it because I usually wind up attracting women older than me (late 20's), or women around my age who has the 'I only date older guys syndrome' who think they're dating someone in their late 20's but aren't really. But maybe it's just me since I've usually been surrounded by people older than me.
Art_Critic Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Here's a positive.. When you are 30 or 40 you will be able to pull younger women who don't have Daddy issues
jerbear Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Here's a positive.. When you are 30 or 40 you will be able to pull younger women who don't have Daddy issues When he reaches 50 and 60; he'll pull younger women with and without Daddy issues. :lmao::lmao:
lovestruck818 Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I'm 26 and I look about 13. I find it extremely hard when going on job interviews. I often find I am not taken very seriously...
Pedigree Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Like the OP, my only problem with looking younger is when I go to get alcohol. Only look 1-2 years younger fortunately so it's just an ID check to make sure rather than being accused of being 13. I'm 26 and I look about 13. I find it extremely hard when going on job interviews. Citizen Erased Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I was asked for ID a couple of months ago when I went to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I don't know if it was because my little brother was with us or what, but it was weird.
