jjamieson Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 I have a thing for a guy I work with. We're both on the management team and I've tried to let this go, but I can't. He's smart, funny, nice easy going. I've thought about what happens if we date and it doesn't work out. There is an age gap He's 31 and I am 23. We've hung out outside of work a few times and he asked me to house sit/dog sit while he went on vacation to visit family. When we talk at work we tend to talk for 30 mins at a time about non-work related stuff. When he was packing for his vacation he packed his golf clubs and he said that we should go golfing(after I has just told him a story about me not knowing how to golf) and then he said he's teach me. I need to ask him out for my own sanity. Advice ... ideas on asking him out
whichwayisup Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 1)Is he married or does he have a girlfriend? If so, GO. Run away and leave him alone. 2)You say co-worker, as in side by side, or same department? Is he someone you HAVE to see, talk to and work with daily? Or is he avoidable? 3)The age thing could be a problem, but if you two don't let it get in the way, and it doesn't bother you or him, why not?
Author jjamieson Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 He's single and I work mostly out of the store so I can avoid him very easily.
whichwayisup Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Then wait until he gets back from his golf trip and see what happens. Drop afew hints and say "So, when are you taking me golfing?"
whichwayisup Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 And he hasn't said anything about the golf thing? I say if you like him, then ask him to coffee. Don't do dinner. Is it possible that he likes you "just" as a friend and his niceness is more like looking at you as a little sister? Just curious.
Author jjamieson Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 I don't think it's like a sister because I went away after he did I told him about this skit I did on stage on the resort and I had to do a "sexy walk" and he said " what did you do" I told him there was a video of it and he said that he had to see it
Author jjamieson Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 the thing is we really don't know each other very well.. I mean we know each other a little, but he has friends that are alot closer that probably would have been easier to ask to house sit.... I was pretty suprised when he asked me had never even met his do before he asked me to housesit
MadDog Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 3)The age thing could be a problem, but if you two don't let it get in the way, and it doesn't bother you or him, why not? Their age is not an issue. According to the gentleman's rule, he can date a girl as young as 22.5 so she meets the cutoff. MD
