You can help this guy and you can want to do anything for him but unless he realizes and wants to change/become aware of and modify his behaviors, he won't. You are in control of you and how you react. I believe that what is stated about childhood abuse/neglect as it applies to me. Is there any hope? Who knows. It may be time for you to change your way of thinking from wanting to rescue him, fix him, be in a relationship with him to thinking he is waaay to messed up to have a relationship with and you can find a better guy that isn't going to flake on you after 3 months. More than likely, he can not be changed and if you continue persuing him he will just run the other way. If he decides he wants to give up on you as a couple, there's not much you can do about it. You can't make someone love you or want to be with you no matter how much you try.
