Okay, wow. There are a lot of posts.

Brainless, agreed. I get paid for 40 hours. My last job wanted to pay me $15K more then I make now but it would require me to work 55 hours a week, I said no way. My priorities are my famaily and my free time. Material things don't matter to me as much as being able to go out an enjoy life. What's the point of making all that money when you dan't enjoy it doing things you love? My last two reviews were: Meet Expecatations, the review before that was Exceeds Expectations. The reason this one was less was because our receptionist was let go (my assistant) so I had to pick up the slack of two jobs for three months, so some things took longer to complete then they normally would. Now we have a new receptionist and she is just about caught up and trained so things will go better. The thing they mentioned on my last review as a big deal was a stained ceiling tile that took too long to get replaced.

Love, it's fine if they need to find someone else, I will find a new job.

Star, for you staying as late as it takes to get the job done is different, you're a lawyer with harsh deadlines. I make lunch reservations, book travel weeks in advance, confirm appointments, order supplies for the office, plan meetings weeks in advance.

Max, exactly it's a way for american employers to take advantage for employee's. My boss makes $300K a year and works 10 hours a day, as he should. Our SWE's make $100K a year and work like 45. I make $40K a year, so heck yeah I am going to work my 40 hours. In addition even though I am salary, if I have to leave early like 2 hours one day for a doctors appointment I am told I have to make that time up, which I normally do. My HR Director told me know because I work late some nights or come in early, I already made up that time plus salary should be a perk for employees.

Monkey, I love corporate jobs. I know most people don't if my roll was creative I am sure I would hate it. But I love the stucture of them. We make software for the gorvernment, so yes, for some people it can be creative.

Trial, my boss says were are a start up company, but we have been around for 10 years and a year and a half ago we got aquired by a billion dollar company. So really we are not a start up company, we can barely even operate as a small buisness.

Art, right, I have my priorities. My boss, neglects his family and is sometimes resentful that he can't have his dream job and travel the world. I love my family and I value my family time. With so many hours left in the day and the responsibilties of being a wife, my dad is pretty packed.

What my review actually said: " You are too eager to go home at the end of the day and we would like you to stay a little later to get more work done."
