How do you know when to say goodbye to an LDR that's getting to be too hard to deal with even though you love the person very much and it's just the distance that's killing you both? Do you end it or wait it out? What would you do?

I wouldn't wait. Temporarily discontinue the relationship until you get a chance to see him face to face. Keep it as an open relationship, meaning you and him can see other people. That's something I would do. It will relieve a lot of stress on your side.
