My GF is a 2nd Grade teacher and has invited me to a Tricky Tray\Chinese Auction and Sit-down Dinner at a nice catering hall. It's a fundraiser for the school she teaches at, sponsored by the Parent Teacher Assoc. Neither of us has ever been to one before. Do men go to these events or is it mostly women? I don't want to feel out of place. Should I say yes?

Thx

never heard of a Tricky Tray, though I'm wondering if it's not what my office calls "dirty Santa," which we play at our Christmas gathering each year. Basically, everyone brings a gift of a certain amount ($10 is an average amount), sticks it in a pile in the middle of the room, then each person gets a number and when it's his/her turn to choose a gift, he's got the option to take one from the pile or steal it from someone else. It gets to be pretty funny because people will do anything to steal gifts from each other.

as for escorting her to the dinner, I suggest you go – you never know what kind of networking opportunities are waiting!
