Prosecco Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I've been reading a book of love poems, and it's actually helping me... as many are about not being able to have the person you love, or being rejected, etc... And it just keeps striking me - some of these writers have clearly hurt as I do, to understand so. And from pain, comes such exquisite beauty. I wish I could do something similar with mine - but in some way, because I appreciate their work, I value their suffering. I'm not sure where I was going with this... but maybe just that - perhaps great things will come from some of us because of our heart break. Whether through just becoming stronger, or finding someone else, or creating something, or learning something because we want to take our mind off hurting...
LuCidiTy Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 i think you're absolutely right. it oddly comforts me as well to listen to sad songs and read sad stories. as hard as things are at a given time, it shows us that it passes. and yes, great beauty and great lessons do come from great pain. our elders always told us that and they of course were there before us and knew this. but it's something you can't really tell anyone until they've been through it, is it?
Ofleg7 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I concurr. My favourite songs are sad songs Depressions and emotional suffering, while they're bastards, they're also great muses
motive2002 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I guess when you have someone that will simply empathize with you.. even if it's someone you don't know through a poem or song, it can be therapeutic. Most of your friends and family probably have advice on how to move on, but real empathy doesn't come with advice on what you should do. It merely understands your pain right now.
