What are some things about men that would make a girl reconsider her relationship? or for that matter even giving someone a chance.

Posted

If he bad mouthes people.

If he lies. No matter what, lies kill affection.

If he is condescending.

But that goes for everbody. Penis or no penis.

So far people have listed things that women say they don't like but still seem to fall for men with those traits regardless.

Okay messenger... why would you ask women what traits they want, then dismiss their input?

Since you asked and maybe other guys might find it helpful...

Traits that are a turn off:

A.) Men who are narrow minded, can't take critism, and/or are unable to laugh at themselves.

B.) Men without backbones.

C.) Clingy, overly needy men who pout when things aren't the way they want them.

D.) Lives with mommy and daddy after he's 20.

E.) Walks like someone kicked him in the groin one too many times. (walks hunched over and looking at the ground)

F.) Men that blame others for the bad things in their lives.

Traits that are attractive:

A.) Men who are capable of listening to others input with an open mind.

B.) Don't take themselves too seriously and can laugh at their own mistakes.

C.) Men who take action instead of those who continually talk about it but never do anything.

D.) Confidence.

E.) Has boundaries and isn't afraid to enforce those boundaries if needed.

F.) Financially capable of taking care of himself and helping those he cares about.

G.) Men who can do honest evaluations of themselves and who can take responsibility for their own behavior, mistakes, or misfortunes.

H.) Men who can allow someone else to have an opinion even if its different from his own, can discuss those differences as an adult and doesn't imply the other person is wrong for their opinion.

I.) Has a job and can actually keep it.

J.) Is capable of finding transportation. ie. Either owns his own car, or can use public transport to get everywhere a person needs to go.

K.) Doesn't make his gf drive to see him all the time, doesn't take all her money.

If he bad mouthes people.

This is my all time favorite thing to do. For me it's a must in a potential mate. Bad mouthing people is heaps of fun.

Really? I don't mean poking fun at somebody. But really being mean and back-stabbingly critical of other people. It just gives me the feeling that once I'm not around the same things will be said about me.

I don't like men who are pushy

men who try too hard

men who are more focused on the impression they make then on actually getting to know me

homophobes

men who want to date me just to impress other men

I like: men who do challenge me intellectually but are able to recognize me as an intellectual match

Manly men who are manly enough to not be afraid of their feminine side

Men who speak with me, not talk at me.

Edit: My first bf did this all the time and it has become a big turn off: men who assume to know better then me how I will behave, or what I am feeling based on some stereotypes about women: all women want children, all women want to trap men into Rs, all women this all women that. It's belittling, disrespectful and it hinders communication.

1. Men who are racist.

2. Men who make fun of people who are victims of circumstance (disabled people, people who are 'ugly' because they are sick, etc.)

3. Men who are materialistic and shallow.

4. Men who are homophobes.

5. Men who are passive aggressive (always late, cheat, etc.)

6. Men who are wishy washy and lead you on.

7. Men who have short tempers and are angry assh*les in private and in public toward others.

8. Men who are physically abusive.

9. Men who are overly jealous and possessive, and clingy.

10. Men who have 'mommy' issues.

11. Men who are feminine (I'll be friends with guys like this, but won't date them), or way too metrosexual.

12. Men who don't read for pleasure.

13. Men who are codependent.

14. Men who are too trendy (ones who look like walking stereotypes).

15. Men who are unimaginative in bed.

16. Men who don't care about their health or hygiene.

I don't like men who are

homophobes

Whats with that??? Are you planning for a 3some? How do you define homophobe anyway?

Homophobe = someone who fears/dislikes homosexuals/homosexuality

The desire to have a "3some" isn't necessary to still be turned off by a man who is homophobic...

Do they?

My list of traits that I find unattractive seems to grow longer when I have split up from someone.

I don't like lying, arrogance, condescension, inattentiveness, selfishness, or rudeness.

So far, my fiance hasn't displayed any of those traits.

I dont like homosexuals the same way I dont like other people which have totally different tastes. I dont think I hate them or fear them. Maybe a little awarenes when there is possibility they might misuse their power - in the army fro example. I certainly dont mind talking to individual ones but I treat the organized movement with contempt.

Oo, LBs list is gooood. I agree with all of those. I guess my list is longer than I thought.

Wonderboy still fits the bill though. Whew.

I think that probably qualifies you as a homophobe. :lmao:

A little maybe. You can see on a homophobe example, how these lists are very dogmatic and a bit stupid.

Like Starla.. I love generous men.. can't stand 'cheap' guys.

I also can't stand men who are:

- narrow minded (racist, etc)

- needy

- possessive

- wearing tacky clothes (that proves they have no good taste)

- loud mouth to get attention in public places.. eewwww

- arrogant, cocky

- rude with people (waiter, bus boy, etc.)

- smoker (stink)

- drug addict (or any addiction)

- who hasn't a good hygiene (bad breath, b.o., greasy hair, etc.)

Everybody has their own perspective on what they like and dislike in a significant other... we are sharing with each other what some of those traits are. Strangely enough many of these lists parallel each other, so perhaps there is something to be learned from them. Don't see how they're dogmatic and stupid...
