Joebo Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 (edited) Ok, so I don't know any. That title was just to entice people in. I'm p**sed off with being down. I want to read some books on getting over relationships. I love reading anyway so I figure it can't hurt. It will pass a few hours at the very least. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'll start with one I found good reviews on. Some other people/forums seem to hold it in high regard. Love Smart - Philip C. McGraw. Disclaimer - I accept no responsibility for this book being rubbish. I have not read this book (yet) nor am I Philip McGraw! Rec. based on other peoples reviews. sedgwick Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I feel compelled to respond with "Wuthering Heights," just because I can. Or perhaps a little Ayn Rand. Them's some good relationship books, rat thar. In the words of our lord and savior Tim Gunn, carry on.
sedgwick Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Kant's Critique of Pure Reason, perhaps? Dracula? Aristotle's Nichomachean Ethics? A little Cormac McCarthy? I hear Blood Meridian is great for getting over lost love.
Star Gazer Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 "The Five Love Languages" and "His Needs, Her Needs."
johan Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 The Mack Within - The Holy Book of Game by Tariq "King Flex" Nasheed.
Towelie Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Move on! By Shianna Worthit (Next!Press) It's not a real book, just imagine the words 'move on' repeated over and over..
JamesM Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Here is one worth trying. http://www.amazon.com/Heal-Broken-Heart-Days-Day/dp/0767909089/ref=sr_1_28?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1206583842&sr=8-28 How to Heal a Broken Heart in 30 Days: A Day-by-Day Guide to Saying Good-bye and Getting On With Your Life As a side note, it is interesting how many books are written for WOMEN when it comes to getting over relationships, but there are very few for men.
LucreziaBorgia Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I recommend "On Love", a novel by Alain de Botton - a look at falling in and out of love and all the craziness in between.
eagle5 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 If It's Heartbreak It Can Be Healed by Chuck Spezzano.... Heavy but good.
LuCidiTy Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 i really like these three by don Miguel Ruiz... The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Wisdom The Mastery of Love: A Practical Guide to the Art of Relationship Beyond Fear: A Toltec Guide to Freedom and Joy
