Trialbyfire Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I live in the US. Surrounded by some very, very, real, men. And, despite the fact that I am married (almost happily, again) I still appreciate men for the differences between them and me (female). See, most women enjoy the differences. I know I do. What I don't enjoy is the crude, rude, sexist, discourteous, overly-aggressive, militant types. Although there are some amazing military men!

TheFonz Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Oh, honey! I'm married almost 14 years! That's belated, for sure.... I live in the US. Surrounded by some very, very, real, men. And, despite the fact that I am married (almost happily, again) I still appreciate men for the differences between them and me (female). And maybe having a balanced and positive attitude about men is a big part of the reason you've been married so long and seem to be fairly happy?
Mustang Sally Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 (edited) Aw. You guys are sweet. (Are these those "PUA tactics" at work? <smile>) I happen to think that 98% of the time, I do happen to have my head screwed on right...but I guess there's some observer bias in that one. But, as anyone who's familiar around here can testify to...I am certainly not one to be giving advice on how to be happily married! I came to LS because I found myself seriously considering an affair. I've got plenty of sh*t under my belt.... You can research my history if you want to see just how messed up I've been... A work in progress. But coming around, I think. I just like men who are men. You know? Edited March 29, 2008 by Mustang Sally
Quiksilver ca Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 It was a sore day when Fingz got married... I still remember you telling us all about that. Then suddenly you disappeared for awhile, leaving us reading and rereading the same fantastic dating threads you wrote. I learned much from them and Im sure a woman would too. And no, we don't tend to use 'PUA' tactics... Personally I find just being a genuine guy who isnt afraid of myself or anyone else for that matter, works best.
mental_traveller Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I agree being a man is a bit out of style at the moment. But I think this is one of those fads and eventually it will return to fashion. You can't change millions of years of evolution in the space of 40 years.
mental_traveller Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Maxim and FHM are a caricture of manhood. Most men who read those magazines do so to escape their wives and girlfriends who have them completely whipped. This is so true. These magazines sell the image/fantasy of what "real men" do, so that guys who don't have it can drool and wish they were like that. Let's face it, most Maxim readers don't have a Ferrari, a bevvy of 20something hotties asking for threesomes, and all that crap.
