Ever have someone ask you to do something weird? No, get your minds out of the gutter! I'm talking about THAT. This really turned me off, and I'm glad my instincts were dead on about this.

I went out with this guy several weeks ago, he was over my house twice. The second time, he saw my resume laying on my desk and asked to read it. I didn't think that was unreasonable, as you might come across something and just happen to skim it whether or not it was something that was or wasn't your business. (Example : If I came across something that was clearly a bank statement, I would have just ignored it.) When it was time for him to leave, he asked if he could take it with him. I said "Um, didn't you read it the first time?". He said yes, but he wanted to read it some more to "really understand what I am about".

I am not one of those people who define themselves by their work. Work has been a major factor in a lot of things, no question, but who I am is not my career / working life. Still, this was strange to me that he wanted to not just read it, but take and study it. So I said "No." He said "Oh please?". I said "Hell to the no!". And that was the end of that. This was enough to show me that this was not something I wanted to pursue any futher. I stopped returning his calls.

A few weeks later, he showed up at my door like an insane person because I hadn't called him. Suddenly afraid that he was going to cut me up like a side of beef, I ran to a neighbor's apartment for shelter. Haven't heard from him since. Can I call them or what?

Maybe he was too shy to tell you he had no resume writing skills and wanted to use yours as a template. I bet if you would have answered his call and told him to leave you alone, that you were no longer interested, he wouldn't have showed up at your house.

I find that behavior rather strange, and it would have freaked me out! What sane person wants to take home another's resume for reading??

Or if she took the man's phone calls he may have gotten even pushier because she would have continued to acknowledge him.
