Lizzie60 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 you think you're old at 40.. geezzzz... I think it's a matter of personal preference. Some people prefer an older partner, some younger... I personally prefer a younger partner. For the last 10 years I mainly dated men who were 20 to 30 years younger than me... and I love it. They say they don't even feel the age gap... like the one I met this year in DR.. we talk every week over the phone.. we've spent 3 weeks together. For him, I'm his gf now.. he just turned 28, I'm 55... he told me last week.. that he feels we're the same age... It's a matter of chemistry, of intellectual connection. You can meet a 40 yr old woman who will still act and think like a 15 yr old.. and you can meet an old soul of 22 yr old... I think younger men looking for older women are looking for independant, confident women who knows what they want and have no jealousy issues... Younger women look for security.. I think anyway. Age is just a number... Go with your gut feeling..
Blue Eyed Brain Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I am not going to date the ones from the office, made that mistake before. I am in a responsible position and there is no way I could get away with dating a member of staff. Glad to hear that... so, you are just interested on why these young girls pay you attention on the job? If it's only a slight interest, then you shouldn't care about it. Maybe they are bored with work and want some spice. Either way, when it's work related and you are in a position of authority - it will look very badly on you and as I stated before, will make you the laugh of the office. Chalk it up to an ego stroke and find someone nice outside of work. Your vibe will change and these girls will move on to someone else, quickly.
Lyssa Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I do look my age, even got grey hair. Oh my! Grey hair is so HOT! My BF has grey hair - lots of it and ssmmasshiiinggg!!!
AussieJack Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 You can meet a 40 yr old woman who will still act and think like a 15 yr old.. So you DO know my Ex ?
Lyssa Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I split from my wife in January but I certainly am not walking round feeling sorry for myself. Actually feel really good at the moment so probably giving out positive vibes. January is still quite fresh and no one should feel sorry for themselves. Whenever you're being hit on by younger women (outside your office), just go ahead and have drinks together or something. Enjoy it while you're getting all the attention!
Balthazar Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 OP, I understand the difficulty of your predicament! You must bear your cross with nobility and fortitude. For now, unselfishly spread your wisdom and experiences for the young generation of women to learn and drink in. Know that your sacrifice will be remembered and honored; your name spoken with reverence in hallowed halls(or by your friends at the local bar:)). Enjoy!
City_girl Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I have recently split from my wife of 12 years and haven't really started dating yet but I find the women who are attracted to me or try to give me their numbers are in their early 20s!! I am about to hit 40 so what the want with an old git like me? Really strange, one of our temps at work today tried to give me her number as it is her last day, she is just 20. These girls look very nice but does seem a bit odd to me. I'm female, 42 get this all of the time too, very weird. Mind you I spent 7 months with a 26 yr old and it was great fun, had to end tho
Trialbyfire Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Haha...validation thread, anyone? Post a pic and we'll tell you what we think! (I'm teasing. ) If you're in a position of authority which generates substantial income and are relatively attractive, you'll draw them like flies, 20 something or whatever decade. If you're both at the same stage and maturity level in life, go for it, although you might want to draw the minimum line at 25. Younger than 25 year olds of either gender, still have much to learn, experience and grow, so you'll find there could easily be dramatic change. If you're solely looking for fun, make certain that the youngun' also feels the same way. If she does, it's game on...
Author onmyownagain Posted March 20, 2008 Author Posted March 20, 2008 Funny really, when I became single again I thought, oh my god, no more sex ever again. Not thinking that now ;-)
Trimmer Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Haha...validation thread, anyone? Post a pic and we'll tell you what we think! (I'm teasing. ) More like a vicarious living thread, for us newly single mid-40's guys who are getting a kick out of the idea of young women thinking us "hot", greying hair and all... As far as the "older/younger" relationship goes, I think it can work both ways as far as the genders go. It seems like it's about finding someone who adds something different to your life. Not so much "opposites attract" as that you are attracted to someone who complements your own life, and some people at certain stages in their lives find that someone very different is an attractive complement. A middle-aged, somewhat stable, established person (either male or female) might get a boost, a kick, out of someone with a younger, more energetic, less jaded outlook. And a younger person might enjoy being with someone more stable, mature, etc. Can it work long term, or is it just a fun fling? Who knows, but it can be sparky. (I'm imagining, anyway... Remember, I'm just living vicariously in this thread...)
Green Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 First of you sound like a bragger. Next if you make any kind of decent money it won't matter if you were 60 you'd have young chicks hitting on you. If your in any type of good shape even at 40 you can look physicaly attractive, and especialy at work the young girls will flirt with the older guys who have good job titles. Will you get laid by a early 20's girl... only time will tell
DanielMadr Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Hollywood stars and sex symbols are all fossils. So why do you wonder? Was that girl pretty? Thats what counts.

OpenBook Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 These kinds of stories give me hope that I can keep banging 19 year olds into my 60's (like Lizzie ). That's MY current plan. :D:D Seriously, if I were to ever settle down, I would want someone close to my own age. Someone who came of age in the same decade I did. Similar life experiences. The familiar is comforting to me. The unfamiliar (i.e. age gap) is energizing and a tremendous rush to the ego, but truth be told it's only mildly amusing in the end. It's not something that would last long-term. But I'm a woman, and it's my understanding that older men do not feel the same way about younger women.
Lizzie60 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 These kinds of stories give me hope that I can keep banging 19 year olds into my 60's (like Lizzie ). tst tst tst... Uno: I am NOT in my 60's.. I'm only 55.. Secondo: I never bang a 19 yr old kid.. my 2 youngest were 31 years younger.. I was 54, they were 23... (My young MM that I have been seeing for the last 2 years and my fling in Cancun). Please stand corrected..
Lizzie60 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Funny really, when I became single again I thought, oh my god, no more sex ever again. Not thinking that now ;-) You know what.. enjoy yourself! Life is too short.. you're single .. go for it!!!!!! I like this kind of thread because I have lotsss of experience with much younger men... I would need more than my 10 fingers and toes to count how much I had in the last 12 years... (since my first separation)... So I say go for it.. it's a lot of fun.. good for the ego (trust me)... et 'c'est bon pour le moral'..
Angels&Airwaves Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 What does a younger man or woman offer you that someone your own age doesn't? 31 years seems a bit steep to me.
Lizzie60 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 What does a younger man or woman offer you that someone your own age doesn't? 31 years seems a bit steep to me. First things that come to my mind: they are spontaneous... we have the same 'voltage' in bed...
Angels&Airwaves Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 First things that come to my mind: they are spontaneous... we have the same 'voltage' in bed... Thank you, my friend is my age and is dating a twenty seven year old, he is very smug with himself, it won't last will it?
Lizzie60 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Thank you, my friend is my age and is dating a twenty seven year old, he is very smug with himself, it won't last will it? How old is your friend?
Angels&Airwaves Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 How old is your friend? Eighteen. He spends most of time showing everyone her photos and boasting about it. It's amusing, it truly it is, he said the sex is out of this world and he said it's nice to have someone treat him like an adult unlike his last girlfriend who was needy and clingy.
Lizzie60 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Eighteen. He spends most of time showing everyone her photos and boasting about it. It's amusing, it truly it is, he said the sex is out of this world and he said it's nice to have someone treat him like an adult unlike his last girlfriend who was needy and clingy. He's proud of her.. that's OK.. they only have 9 years difference, that's no bid deal.. but he's quite young at 18... but then, he could be mature for his age... All younger men I've seen have said the same thing.. they like older women because they're not clingy, they're not jealous, they're independant, they're great in bed, they can have 'adult' conversations, not just about 'make-up and the latest fashion'... I guess they feel more 'grown-up' with an older woman. My last 'fling' in DR was just like that.. bragging to his friends that he was younger than my daughter.. He was asking everyone around to guess my age was... One said '30'..hahaha... but most said '35-40'... He asked me to marry him.. He wants me to move over there.. yeah right..
Angels&Airwaves Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I like the idea of being with an older woman, but I'm not sure I would be entirely comfortable with one. I guess I could go for someone in their early twenties at the max. It's just I'm hardly the most mature or sensible person you're ever likely to meet. I can be mature, but then I can be very immature and silly. I guess it grates on people after a while.
SoStupid Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I Love older men!!! Anything over 40+ would be too old for me!(old enough to be my dad!)

Age is but a number and youth is not synonymous to beauty.
