Since I've retired from dating, perhaps I should take up gold-digging. It certainly seems to pay off, like in Heather's case. Of course, I have to find just the right Hollywood or rock music legend...

Yeah. apparently she initially filed a claim for $250 mil , but the Judge dismissed that by saying that she did not have a leg to stand on !

Dammit, I hate myself sometmes !!!

Only $48 million? How will she ever support herself with that measly amount? If you ask me she shouldn't have gotten one red cent and the only reason she is mad is because somebody said no to her. She had zilch to do with his success. At the same time it is his fault for being dumb enough to marry her. How can you go from Linda to that?

The thing was Heather reminded McCartney of Linda. I think he was really sincere when he did marry her thinking he could finally move past Linda's death and find happiness again. I feel so sorry for him.

I've never followed their marriage beyond knowing it existed, then hearing that they were going to split. Did he not have a prenup agreement?

He must have been delusional if Heather reminded him of Linda. That is why a person should not remarry while they are still grieving.

Why couldn't she just pull herself up by her bootstraps, like Paul did?

I feel bad for Paul. He truly loved Linda, and I think it was obvious he had a trust with her like no one else. He probably thought he could trust Heather the same way, and was just naive. He was just in love again and met someone not so special as Linda, but sadly someone more typical.

It's typical life that fate takes someone to soon like Linda destroying a love that could have led them both to their old age. But lady death can take you when you least suspect it.

Well, they do have a daughter so yes she does deserve some money, if not just to support the little girl.

I agree, it's his own damn fault for marrying her. We can blame her, but he chose to marry her. No-one was holding a gun to his head. Even if she did love him (doubtful) when they married, of course she was going to take him to the cleaners when he filed for divorce. Well, in his case, the change from his back pocket, this is barely even a dent in his bank account ;)

Linda doted on Paul. His previous relationship with long-time girlfriend Jane Asher was more tumultuous and apparently she wouldn't take any guff from him.

The other Beatles all described him as a bossy perfectionist prima dona, but they were pretty much lay-abouts, especially John, so who knows?

I don't know how it was with Heather, but I'm assuming she didn't dote on him.

John used to beat his girlfriends up until Yoko. But no one ever wants to believe that.

Well, I think he pretty much admitted that in "Getting Better All the Time."

And that other song, "I'd rather see you dead little girl than to be with another man." I don't think he was making that up. But at least he did change.

Although he didn't pay very much attention to Cynthia and Julian once he married Yoko.

But what I was referring to about John is that he used to lay around on his sofa all day long, stoned, staring at a toy with little red lights that blinked on and off.

When Paul wanted to redo "takes" of songs, he would say things like, "Who do you think we are, Simon and f*cking Garfunkle?"

Apparently he didn't like working very hard. That is why I take it with a grain of salt that he called Paul a prima dona. I think Paul just wanted to produce a high quality product and also was much more business-minded than the others, which they resented in the end.

People can call John lazy but hands down he had the best solo work after they broke up. If he were still alive he would probably still be making great music while Paul's recent music sounds like easy listening.

Posted

Don't you think John's solo work was kind of patchy, if you take it all into account. I mean, some of the experimental stuff he did with Yoko wasn't that great. Plus, Paul's solo stuff was pretty good early on, like "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "I'm Coming Up."

If John had lived past 1980, he might have eventually gotten mediocre too.

I'll admit that he was brilliant though, and hillariously funny. I found a Youtube recently of he and Bob Dylan riding in a cab drunk out of their minds. It is worth googling, but it is so idiotic it is almost depressing. They keep laughing about the Mamas and the Papas and how everyone secretly wants to "do the fat chick."

It would have been SO interesting to see what music John would have made. I kind of agree with you woggle. Paul hasn't made much good music since, though I as I get older among other things, I really appreciate Paul's older work. When he was on, he was on. Paul really taps into the soul in some of his older work.

Such a shame that John's life was cut short, especially in such a wasteful manner.

And watching those American Idols ruin every single song for me makes me want to make it a law that no one else sings them. Same should go for Queen songs.

The last single John did was, "Strange Days," right?

Paul isn't going to miss the 48 million much, he knew this may come when he signed on with Mills.

Unfortunately, musical inspiration seems to only last a few years in most artists. I don't like what I've heard from Paul outside his Beatles work and some Wings stuff

To return to the bad one-legged jokes...I guess she had fewer bootstraps to grab onto. Yuk yuk.

But no, of course Mills wasn't really hopping mad. >snicker< She was actually pretty pleased with what she got. As well she should be! The woman's a nightmare and a bag full of crazy. But he chose to marry her, for some reason. I guess he really was very lonely.

Hopefully he's learned his lesson now.

Posted

I hope he has learned his lesson as well. Like act his age and date woman in accordance with said age.

Dirty old man, of course all she wanted was his money, he is not the pretty one of the Beatles anymore. Well, he is the prettier one, I wouldn't imagine John and George are in too good shape right now. And well, Ringo looked like a 70 year old man when he was 20 :p But still, fancy being that deluded

I can't even think of comparing Maybe I'm Amazed with the raw and emotive stuff John did on albums like Plastic Ono Band

I agree and Yoko Ono gets a bad name. Say what you want about her but she seems like she genuinely loved John and she pushed him in an artistic direction that resulted in a lot of good music.
