ismellsogood Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 do guys play head games and make power plays? do they do things they wouldn't normally do to impress their guy friends? or are men really THAT simple that they only do and say what they're feeling? ie: if a guy likes a girl, he will, no matter the circumstances, persue her. should we girls take every single thing that guys do at face value? are you really that simple? if you don't express your feelings, does it mean that you simply weren't feeling anything? I WANT MALE ADVICE!
City_girl Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I'm not a male but if you really want male advice read, "he's just not that into you" it will answer all of the above and more. Interesting thread!!

I WANT MALE ADVICE! Do guys play head games ? - generally - no. Do they make power plays ? - yes. If a guy likes a girl will he pursue her ? Only is he is confident. Shy guys will admire you from afar or act like a male girlfriend around you.. Take most of what guys says at face value. WE are trained to be direct and upright in saying what we THINK but not what we FEEL. Men can easily separate their thoughts from their feelings,. WE also do not manipulate or connive. That is for women. Now,the kicker - no expressed feelings does not mean NO feelings. Men are raised to suppress their feelings, not express them . WE ONLY show them to those in whom we feel comfortable and that may take a long time.. I gather that you are speaking about feelings of 'affection'.. Get it? Or are you confused? Trialbyfire Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 While I'm not a guy, I will respond to this thread because I can. Guys are people too. Yes, they play head games and power games, worse than women. No, you shouldn't take everything every guy says at face value. You would be asking to be bent over... As for men expressing sentiment and emotions, too many have difficulty with this. Societal constraints, including generational constraints, don't encourage men towards this aspect of being human. On the flipside, when boys grow into men, they also have the ability to affect conditioning. You can only blame your parents for so long.

Both sides are equally as bad about it if you ask me. I agree 110% with your last statement. Nothing worse then someone blaming the way they are on their parents every single time.
Trialbyfire Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I don't know about that. Women play games too. Both sides are equally as bad about it if you ask me. Women don't play games. You guys just need to believe everything we say and then everything will turn out okay!
Pyro Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Women don't play games. You guys just need to believe everything we say and then everything will turn out okay! Is that all? Wow, I thought you women were more complicated then that, but I have been proven wrong.....now go put some make-up on.
Trialbyfire Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Is that all? Wow, I thought you women were more complicated then that, but I have been proven wrong.....now go put some make-up on. Glad you understand now, how simple we women can be. Now if you guys would stop your game playing, we would all get along great! For a brief period only, I'll just cover up with a pair of sunglasses. Big sunglasses are a girl's best friend...
carhill Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 OP, if you're talking about that guy at school, IMO he's just immature. The ladies and our resident mate have answered your questions pretty well, though I would caution painting men with such generalized brushes. Some of us might get our feelings hurt

I am still laughing at the profile pic.
Max Overclock Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 (edited) Women don't play games. You guys just need to believe everything we say and then everything will turn out okay! No offense Trialbyfire, but, as a male, I can say that the opposite of these two ideas is generally accurate. All the best, Max PS: The glasses can be an effective "mask" to create a sort of "firewall" to non-verbal / eye-centered communication. Edited March 14, 2008 by a LoveShack.org Moderator
AussieJack Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 do guys play head games and make power plays? do they do things they wouldn't normally do to impress their guy friends? I WANT MALE ADVICE! Yes, and I gave you MALE advice, the BEST advice that you are getting here, so take it. The other replies are from women... and taking adviice about men from other women is like going to the hardware store for a loaf of bread. The comments from TBF were obviously meant 'tongue in cheek' - read them for their comedy value only.
Pyro Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 do guys play head games and make power plays? do they do things they wouldn't normally do to impress their guy friends? Without a doubt. or are men really THAT simple that they only do and say what they're feeling? That depends per guy. We are all built differently. Some guys have no problem saying what is on their mind or how they feel and some hold it in because they see it as weakness to expose feelings. ie: if a guy likes a girl, he will, no matter the circumstances, persue her. should we girls take every single thing that guys do at face value? are you really that simple? Again, it varies. Don't go by what he says, but what he does. Actions speak louder then words. if you don't express your feelings, does it mean that you simply weren't feeling anything? I WANT MALE ADVICE! See my second bolded sentence.

Trialbyfire Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 You're the person that needs the paperbag. Haha...so true. You told me to put makeup on and I did, so there!
johan Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Speaking of head games, you need to put your avatar back to the one with the shades. Good night to LS. Take heart: If I have a head ache in the morning, it won't have been caused by head games.
Trialbyfire Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Apparently, there's no way to satisfy men in general. One wants makeup, the other one wants shades, the other two say mean things about women. OP, forget trying to understand men. It's a hopeless endeavor. Vive la difference!
