GreatGuy2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I'm new to this place so first off, Hi Ya'll. Sorry, My country accent. Hey Everyone!!! Thats better. I hope I'm not the only one with this problem, I've been waking up from time to time dreaming about my Ex. She is a Wonderful, Respectful, Loving woman in HER OWN MIND. Our divorce 1 1/2 yrs ago was the best thing for me but for some reason, every once in a while, I wake from my sleep from these dreams that seem so real. Just this morning, I woke up crying at 4:30 AM because I had a dream that she was being really loving, talking to me without yelling, and it was so very nice. In my dream, I was lying on my bed and she woke me up and was sitting next to me, touching my face, telling me how great of a man I am and how sorry she was for all the things she did to me. I sat there shocked and started crying, THEN, the dream starts back in with her climbing on top of me, softly kissing me and wanting me to love her, and THEN...........I woke up, sat straight up in bed crying wanting to know where this was coming from and that it needs to stop. Is this normal??? I have always considered myself as a very strong, well rounded, very secure man. We were married for 16 yrs, very rough marriage and stayed together because of the kids. I now have Full Custody on my 15yrs son and we have so much fun, him playing Baseball, the two of us taking trips, going to new places and seeing new things. Other from these Hellish nightmares, Life is pretty good, just having some problems meeting new woman and getting back into the dating scene. I've been told I look like Garth Brooks, ( your going yeah right!!) I can tell you this much, according to my bank account and Garth's, were not alike. LOL!!!
sedgwick Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I had a dream last night that my ex and I got back together too. I woke up sad. It was so vivid -- I was hugging and kissing him and I could remember what he felt like. It seemed so real, and then I woke up alone again. It sucks. Hang in there. ps: the apostrophe in "y'all" goes between the y and the a.
blind_otter Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I don't think this is necessarily uncommon...I have dreams about my ex's sometimes, although not with the emotional intensity you describe, OP. They usually serve as background characters or just appear and quickly disappear. I did have a dream about my exH (we split up years ago) the other night...he was in my kitchen trying to have sex with me and I pushed him away and told him I'm pregnant with someone else's baby (which I actually am in real life). I think that anyone who has featured prominently in your life will occassionally appear in your dreams. JMO.
Elena62 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 ps: the apostrophe in "y'all" goes between the y and the a. LOL! Sedgwick, you have just given me the giggles!!! I'm sorry you're all dreaming about the ex. I am too, I had a dream a couple of weeks back -- he was putting all his children into a wicker basket, and smiling at me. He had told me it was over. Next moment, I was looking out to sea, watching the sunrise, feeling incredibly sad. The sun got bigger and bigger, it's light surrounding me, just pure brilliant white light, and then I woke up. I miss him. Hang in there, people!
Author GreatGuy2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 Well, Im glad to know its not just me, WHooooooo.......... Now, dont get me wrong, thinking back now after reading your post, maybe I should have stayed in a little longer for the Sex part of the dream before jumping out like I did. Hummmmm. The more I think about that, the more it makes sense. LOL!!!!!! Oh Yeah, Sedgwick, not sure were your from but down here, most Hillbillys or Rednecks cant even spell or let alone, have computers, they think computers are high tech T.V's but cant seem to find the remote to work the damn thing so they dont bother with it. Anytime you get below the Mason Dixon Line, the apostrophe in "y'all" goes between the a and L ......Southern example: 1) Ya"LL LOL!!!
texasprincess Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I've heard that dreaming of your ex signifies some unfinished business you two have. Perhaps there's something one of you need to say before you move on finally. This may sound weird (but then again you're from the South, so it may not), but I've always been told that when you dream of someone, especially on multiple occassions, you can turn to the person in the dream and ask why they are there...and you will get your answer. It's only happened to me once (but not with an ex..with a deceased family member) and they answered me. Weird, huh? Or then again, maybe I'm the weird one.
Lookingforward Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I always thought it was all y'all (and I'm from as far south as you can be from without being a penguin)
MalachiX Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I've been constantly having dreams about my ex since we broke up a month ago. They're always terribly melodramatic. In one, I'm watching an old video of us together and I've fallen asleep. I see her looking down on me with nothing but love and realize how lucky I am to have her. Then I wake up. In another, I'm in some kind of maze, desperatly trying to find her but keep just missing her; catching a glimpse as she turns a corner only to disappear. The most recent one (three days ago) had the two of us both teaching at the same school. After trying to avoid each other for much of the dream, we finally confront each other. I say, "I'm sorry I never treated you the way you deserved." She says, "You treated me the best you could. I love you." Then we rush into each others arms, all chick-flick style, and cry. Then, I wake up. When I was younger, I used to fear sleep because of nightmares. I'd gladly take the scary monsters of my childhood over this. Of course, I was only with my girl for 2 and a half years. I can't imagine how hard it must be for someone with a 16 year marriage.
Issues & tissues Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Yesterday I saw my ex for the first time in six weeks. Last night I dreamt that I was reliving the final moments of our break up, begging him to stay and not leave me. I cried the whole night in my sleep and when I woke up this morning my eyes were swollen and red. I like to think that nights like these are helping us work through those deep-rooted emotions we simply can't handle when awake!
onmyownagain Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I've had a couple of vivid dreams about my STBXW dying (in the dreams I am still with her), but haven't dreamt about her for a while now.
serendip Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I've only had one dream of the ex the entire time we were together and since the break up this was the dream... I was going to a restaurant with friends...she was there having something to eat with another person she came by to say hi and we chatted (catching up) and that was it
Belkin Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Same here, keep dreaming of her! At first it was mostly of her dumping her new bf and coming back to me, then I had a dream where I rejected her coming back And yesterday night again she dumped him and we started fooling around (but I woke up before it got too serious, damn!) However I didn't feel sad or depressed on waking up, curiously. As for y'all vs ya'll, if I can give my 2 cents, I would say y'all is a contraction of you all while ya'll is a contraction of ya all. Then again, maybe not
AvgJoeDoe Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 wierd i got a dream of my ex that we were hugging and kissing and it was so vivid also. I havent been with her for 3 months and last night i went to see her, drove 3 hours and was with my surprise that she was seeing someone else sure enough the drive back was very long but i felt peace in my heart maybe i just want her to be happy with whoever she decided to move on. Maybe that triggered that dream since our breakup i havent dream of her until tonight. Well i woke up and felt mixed emotions but i wondered if there is a possibility of two people dreaming the same dream.
Queequeg Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 The first night we broke up I had a dream that we were in bed, and he got up and started walking away. I asked him where he was going. He told me he was going to get a glass of water. Then I woke up.. This was a very common occurrence when he would stay at my house, so it was very real. When I woke up I was really confused and thought it happened. Then reality sank in. Y'all come back now!
mistie03 Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I had an awesome dream about my ex not too long ago. I WISH I could have that dream again, but replace him with someone else in the dream. It was a romantic, loving embrace like I have never felt in real life ever! I never wanted to forget the dream. I am not sure why I had that kind of dream with him in it, because my ex-bf was a very emotionally distant person. Not very affectionate at all.
Author GreatGuy2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 OK !!! OK !!!! I don't give in very easy but........OK, its Y'LL not Ya'll......there I said it. LOL!!!! I've been out voted. OH my gosh, I don't know where to began. Yesterday, My 15 yrs son had a Baseball game not too far from my Ex's house. We were sitting there watching the game before ours started, the warmth of the sun in our face, kicked back eating a hotdog together, talking about Baseball, and out of NOWHERE, My Ex walked down to us, she sat down beside my son, I freaked out and didn't know what to do. I had been shooting Photo's of our Seniors that were playing and all of the sudden, I smelled her perfume. Words cant describe the wave of emotions that flooded my chest. She looked so good, smelled AWESOME, I had forgotten what her perfume smelled like. This was the 2nd time she has seen my son since I got full custody of him last march. I could tell he was nervous but handled it well. I didn't do so good,.....on the outside, I was like " Hey, Glad you could come watch him play, that awesome" but on the inside, that dream was coming back so strong and that burning of hurt was in my chest and my eyes were burning because I could feel tears starting to come up so I was fighting them off very hard. Man, was that a hard moment. No announcement, no nothing to prepare, NOTHING. Before the game started, she had to leave and go back home and change because she had her work clothes on and wanted to get comfortable. Needless to say when she came back, she looked breathtaking. My ex is a very pretty woman, just very shallow and materialistic, driven by money and what other men can give her. 16yrs of marriage had been a very long, growing part of my life to just throw it away like that. I guess there will always be some kinda hurt there the rest of my life. Do you guys think she has dreams like that of me??? I really thought I was over this alot more than this, it just all hit me so hard out of nowhere. This morning, I'm just very somber & quiet, reflecting back on everything.
Author GreatGuy2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 Oh Yeah !!! One more thing, HOW DO YOU START OVER DATING AGAIN AND FINDING PEOPLE. I have had the worst time meeting woman without going out and hanging out in bars. I dont want a bar hopper or drunk. How do you find nice, wonderful, caring, REAL Woman!!!! Are they still out there???? There must not be any here around me. LOL!!!!!! THIS SUCKS !!!!
