Did your partner or your partner's family ask you a question about your genetics? Or did you ever view your partner and wonder what if you're marrying someone who may not have good genetics?

My brother ex's parents once asked "do you have bad genes?" or something like that because my brother is in his late 20s and bald. Well, his hair was thinning in the front so he just shaved it off completely.

As for my own personal experience, my ex voiced out one time how she was concerned about my birth defect "pectus excavatum" possibly carrying over to my kids.

I know subconsciously, we're physically attracted or drawn to people for particular physical traits but would the lack thereof be a deal breaker for you later on in the relationship?

Well, I never considered a guy going bald as a sign of 'bad" genes. And seriously, for adults to ask someone that is not only tacky but plain dumb.

I've never asked a date their gene history. It never even crossed my mind.

It's a possiblity that you could pass something on to your cildren. But it is also possible for two seemingly healthy (or non-defect) looking parents to have a child with a "defect".

I have good friends that are married. The husband has a type of muscular dystrophy. For the longest time the wife wanted children but the husband didn't want to pass on his genes in case his children also got MS. Well, she didn't care and wanted to have children with this man. Now they have two healthy twin boys that are 3 years old...point of the story..it will matter to some people and it won't matter to the people who really care about you.
