Does this happen to everyone? Your SO has had a big day and is too tired when you get on the phone for your nightly convo so they chat for a little while, then followed by a 'sorry baby but I just have to go to bed'. My SO has been working so hard lately, 12 to 15 hour days so I've been speaking to a zombie lately and it gets you down. LDRs are hard enough but when you can't communicate normally its even harder ... :(

I know all about that. Believe me. It hurts but you just have to pull up your bootstraps, decide to not let that get you down and know that they love you regardless.

Don't know if it happens to *everyone*, but it's certainly has happened to me. If you're dealing with major time zone differences, it's almost unavoidable. One of the other of you ends up having to stay up late or get up early which is difficult enough even if you haven't been working 12-15-hr days.

Instead of getting bummed about your nightly chats being so "unproductive," why not give both yourselves a break? Instead of him dragging himself to chat and you feeling unfulfilled every night, set up one time, perhaps on the weekend, that's "your time" and talk in depth, then.

Doesn't mean you can't send daily texts, IMs or voicemail messages during the week to "stay connected," it just means, at least during times when he's working himself to the bone you take into consideration each other needs.

HTH!
