The guy who is watching porn actually wants to bang the girl in the porn but he has to settle for the woman he has in real life even though his fantasy of what he really wants is someone else... I don't see how this is generalizing, if he is jacking off to the girl in the porn then it is the girl in the porn that he wants, but he has to make do with his real life woman, and while he's boning his REAL life woman he's probably imagining that she was the girl in the porn. I tend to believe this is true as well. How can this not be true? I assume you don't masturbate to porn. If you did you would know that people who masturbate to porn don't think about having sex with the people on the screen - it is the act itself that turns them on. Anyways, if you don't believe the men and women who are actually masturbating to porn when they explain that they are not fantasizing about the women/men they are watching, but are merely stimulated by the visual that is being made available to them, then who ARE you going to believe?

I think in general women tend to get aroused by the scene as a whole while men focus on the PARTICULAR woman or women in the porn and fantasize about that woman. That's why they have POV porn (point of view) shot from angles where the guy can fantasize it is HIM being pleasured.

But many, many people only consider this in a seriously taboo way. My wife will have dreams about sex with other people, but she never consciously fantasizes about other people. I suspect rainfall is the same way. There are truely monogamous people out there. I also believe men and women watch porn DIFFERENTLY. I think in general women tend to get aroused by the scene as a whole while men focus on the PARTICULAR woman or women in the porn and fantasize about that woman. That's why they have POV porn (point of view) shot from angles where the guy can fantasize it is HIM being pleasured. Maybe for most, but I don't like POV porn. I'm mostly not thinking about the specific people in the scene, I am observing, but also thinking about the situations, and wishing my wife and I were in them.
