midamericanman Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 OK, here's the deal. I moved to a different part of town recently and decided to check out the local bar about a block from my house. I've been there several times, it's usually loud and a little routy and sadly the women their are for the most part a little rough around the edges for my tastes and then there's the female bartender. Ah we see where this is going, eh? She's about 30 I think, attractive, although not stunning, with very captivating eyes. The place has been busy each time I go there which is usually on Thursdays when I'm off work. I've only had the chance to do micro -chats with her but last week as I left she told me she worked on Sundays and I should come in on Sunday. I work Sundays, late, but I managed to get there only to discover it had closed early, obviously not busy! Tonight I stopped by and she took a couple minutes to start a brief conversation about a goofy patron and when I left I caught her at the back door for a moment. She asked me my name with good eye contact, I told her and asked for her name. I told her the drinks must have been tall since I felt fairly trashed (she knows I walk home). She asked me how far I had to walk, "only about a block" I told her. She then let me know she worked Saturday as well as the Monday she told me earlier that night. I've never made any attempt at dating service workers I met at their jobs, but this seems odd. An attractive female bartender is hit on all the time and I'm sure she must suspect I have an interest in her. I took this Sunday off to see what happens. I have one female opinion who says I'm not misreading this, love to know what others think. I should add that I'm a not quite like the other people in this working class bar, so I'm sure I stand out a little.
sb129 Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I think it sounds like she is interested- volunteering information about what days she works is a pretty good indicator IMO. My only concern is that you seem to have a higher opinion of yourself than the other clientele and perhaps her (you describe her as a "service worker") and I would find this unattractive if it was very obvious.
Author midamericanman Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 Sb, I can see your point about the "service worker" label seeming pejorative although I work with the public as well in a different capacity so that label fits me too. The clientèle is a bit rough tho, one girl was loudly talking about having been in jail, a major red flag in my book. Plus I'm still burning off the last of the Scotch.

You aren't trying to set up a date with the girl who has been in jail though. Sounds good to go so far, good luck!
NuTuDating Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Be careful with bartenders. They'll say anything for tips. Believe me, I know. Watch yourself. She asked you to come back to the bar while she was working, not meet her for dinner or a movie somewhere else. But that's just me. Never trust a bartender.
