In mid cuddle I was told that ..."You know Unders, if anything bad ever happens you are going to have a hard time getting rid of me"...

I immediately went from .....to......:(.

I then curled up into a fetal position and swallowed tears.

This is not good.

What did he mean, "bad happens"? Like if he got whiplash in a car accident and needed someone to bring him dinner on a tray? I don't get it.

I took it more to mean if anything bad happened to Unders.

Did you ask him what he meant by that or did you just curl up?

If that is the case, maybe he just has a fantasy of nurturing and taking care of you and was expressing that.

Does that freak you out?

Talk about self-prophesizing statements...

Maybe he'll tattoo your name on his chest with ball point pen ink like Mark Wahlberg in Fear.

To answer some other questions.

I don't know what he meant by it. To be honest he was a little tipsy (I wasn't). There was also a statement about jumping into an ocean or off of a cliff.

I did not ask about it because it just did not seem like an appropriate time to do so. So I just curled up and swallowed tears of fear.

I don't get the psycho vibe from him. However, my judgement in men has not always had most pristine record. That little statement could very well have just triggered an association to a bad past experience.

Maybe I am just being silly?

Maybe it's not a psycho vibe but a sense of adventure like cliff diving??

Weird statement.

Could he just mean, as my bf did when he perceived I was a bit of a commitmentphobe (my word of the day), that he would stick through a lot of sh²t for you?

I know it's not necessarly reassuring to think that that's what he meant.

Maybe?

I don't even know if I can bring it up. He might not remember what he said clearly.

Is is so wrong to want to have hot sex and get to know each other before leaping off of cliffs into oceans? :o

Maybe I should reassure him that I do like him but it is still really new and really, what is the rush to get ...where?

I do sound like a commitmentphobe huh? Or, he is overly infactuated with me too early.

Place your bets now.

I think it happens simultaneously. The more you want out the more he wants in.

I'm placing my bets on both the red and the black at the roulette table. ;)

Ah, you cover all angles. Smart woman.

I agree with you about the energy thing. The truth is that I don't want out. I do really like him. I am still learning about him though and gosh, there are some things he needs to learn about me. I like that process.

It does trouble me that he is on a cloud so soon when I am not. I don't get on the cloud until I am sure. My fears are that he will wake up to the real person I am once I step onto the cloud and then ...poof.

I'm just trying to balance the fun romance stuff with reality.

Sounds to me that the guy combined about 3 thoughts in his head and because he was tipsy he said more or said something that he normally wouldn't.

--He was telling you that he is falling for you.

--He thinks that it is a big problem to himself that this is happening because he is a bit of a CP ( or independent guy not looking to get tied down ) and he feels it is too early for him to be falling for you.

--He mentioned the whole bad ever happens to you by accident.. he was thinking it but he changed up his words because he realized it was too early to tell you how he feels and the Alcohol mixed things up..

--It seems to me that this guy thinks that he himself falls too quickly for women and he was also testing the waters to see if you bolted ?? Did you ??

I say that he is going to really put the throttle down if you green light him at all...

You know....This is all your fault. :p

You advised me to meet his parents.

I haven't bolted...yet, and I don't want to. However, I am not jumping off any cliff yet either.

Hey now...Meeting his parents didn't green light him...:p

I wouldn't bolt Unders.. if he moves too fast then just slow him down..

There are many many ( or most I really should say ) relationships out there that started out uneven about progress speed..

Take the reins some if you get too uncomfortable with his speed and pull him down some..

 I know. I was kidding with you. Also, it was good to meet his folks. They are great people. So thanks to you and others who pointed me towards an action that I probably would not have taken.

Thanks for the analysis and advice. I will take it to heart (after I make a little joke)

Take the reins or crack the whip?
