Hypothetical scenario.

You've been with your bf/gf for a handful of months now and things are fine and dandy. One day, your bf/gf brings up the fact that you are smothering him/her (too many phone calls, too much time spent together, etc.) and he/she wants those activities decreased. You hesitantly obliged.

You haven't got in contact with you bf/gf for a few days now then one day, you get into a terrible accident: hit by a car, health deterioation due to a sudden whacked illness, etc. You ended up in hospital.

Whether you are in a state of coma or not, your bf/gf still have no idea what's going on and you have been in the hospital for a few days.

How would you feel?

If you were the bf/gf and you found out when you tried to called multiple times 1 week later, how would you feel?

i think this is one of those scenarios whose specificity is such that one would not know unless the situation actually happened.

Color me ignorant (or old :D) but the few women I've been that intimate with (BF/GF) have known and I know each other's families. So, in the case of a problem, someone in the family would be notified and they'd get hold of the one of us for the one who could not communicate. Obviously, if something happened to my wife and I was first contact, I'd immediately call the families.

So, like tonight, if my wife were not to call me when she leaves the salon on her cell, I'd wait until 8 or 8:30, then call her, then call the salon, then call the salon owner at home, then call the police if she could not be reached/found.

What was the question again? :D

How would you feel?
I would have a rude awakening about their feelings for me. The thing that led to that situation speaks enough about how much they don't care about me. A lover who doesn't call for a few days without any specific reason is not a person in love.

If you were the bf/gf and you found out when you tried to called multiple times 1 week later, how would you feel?
If I asked my lover not to call me too often and I didn't call him for a few days, that would mean that I am not really into them. If they ended up in the hospital during this period, I would feel no different than if it was a casual friend.

Seeing someone in a terrible medical state can't evoke feelings of love. It can only evoke temporary compassion. As a matter of fact, if I knew that they held me guilty for not calling them, I would feel uneasy and anxious to leave the hospital.

So are you saying you were in an accident? I hate cryptic posting.

I would feel as if I were on an episode of Days of Our Lives... and that after waking up from my coma and forgetting my past... that I would make a new life for myself in a place far away from Salem..... only to be somehow drawn back there years later.... where my ex recognizes me and tries to convince me of the wonderful love we once had.

But- the twist- we are both married to other people....and at some point we may find out we are actually related....

Sounds more like the show Passions to me! ;)

Conversely, I love cryptic posting :D

Called her to see what she wanted me to fix for dinner (I'm the cook during the week) :)

The real problem is the reverse, since I work alone with dangerous machinery. I'd be pretty stiff by the time she got home....

On-topic, I guess I put a bit more into friendships than I'm reading here, since I would be there for any of my friends if they were in a threatening situation. All this posturing about "casual" just confuses me.

Don't expect to get a lot of replies to thread if they are always cryptic. Gets old really fast around here. People are here to help others, not try to figure out what the heck is going on.

Check my postings and you'll see I'm one of the helpers, even with the cryptology extant here. Old hand at it :)

I think carhill was pretty clear with his comments; it was the OP who was doing the whole "what if" second- and third person hypothetical scenario thing: "what if you did this, then she did this, then you did that, then she said this... How would you feel?"

I tend not to make time for hypothetical third-person scenarios, because I don't find any emotional toehold to help me to care about the hypothetical participants. If an OP posts about a personal experience, then I can empathize and relate, and I can find it worth investing thought and time in a reply.

So, Dual: is this something that is happening or has happened to you? What character are you in the scenario?

I believe it's a SHE.

She is either a troll or somebody who contemplates harming herself in some way in order to end up in the hospital and evoke sympathy in her BF. I must admit I've had such fantasies (NOT plans) about my estranged partners, but I don't think accidents bring people together. Actually, in practice many people have been dumped immediately upon some malfortune, because nobody likes weaklings. And when you are sick, you are weak.

I know a person who was dumped by his wife of 8-9 years after he had a car accident and lost his job and house. They have two little girls. She went with another guy on a vacation while her husband was utterly depressed, in severe back pain and waiting for a surgery. Even Brooke Shields was alone while fighting cancer.

People are not as cruel as you think they are. They are even crueler.

Oh shoot, sorry Carhill I meant to be addressing the original poster with the cryptic comment lol. I just dont find people will get a lot of response if they are cryptic about what they really need to know. Makes it difficult for a reader to put themselves in the situation, or possibly relate it to a real situation in their lives.

No worries. I'm just testing the efficacy of my MC :)

I am new here, but I'm quite old in the realm of internet discussion forums and Usenet. Things always have a way of working themselves out. Glad to find out that cryptic/hypotheticals is a community frustration. I will endeavor to be clear in my OP's...

My wife got a good chuckle out of my post :D
