I'm a man and when I was 16 I had an identity crisis (I'm 22 now) and somehow blamed the shape of my eyebrows for people not accepting me. I got a Gillette razor and shaved off part of my eyebrows in order to make them look "more acceptable". :( Naturally, what I did was make them look a lot worse. In the first months they didn't grow back at all, and I felt pain in the region I had shaved. I eventually talked to a dermatologist, and she gave me some stuff (whose names I sadly can't recall) that made the pain stop and the hair grow back a little bit. But my eyebrows still don't look like they should. :( Today I really miss my old ones. Does anyone know what I should do in order to get them back?

I'm sorry, I don't think there's anyway to get them back. Eyebrows are kind of funny that way. You have to be careful not to overdo anything with them because you never know how/if they are going to grow back.

You could try going somewhere and having them shaped/waxed. It sounds girlie but a lot of men actually do it. Maybe it will help you feel better about them?

Rogaine can help speed up the growth of overtweezed eyebrows. But yours weren't tweezed. They were shaved. That's what gets me. Because I've read that in order to remove the hair follicle you need to yank them out.

Did you use excessive force and remove layers of skin when you shaved them?

I did use some force, because my eyebrows were thick... but I didn't cut the skin underneath them at all. However, my skin did hurt a little afterwards. :(

It's been some years since this happened... Do you think Rogaine could still work? I mean, a little of the hair has come back, so maybe there's still hope... It wouldn't hurt to try the medicine now, would it?

on Rogaine (minoxidil) package warnings:

Do not use this medication on any part of your body other than your scalp. Application to other body parts can be dangerous.

So, consult with a pharmacist prior to use. Sometimes package warnings are for liability reasons only.

One end of one of my eyebrows never grew back after i had it pierced.... I no longer have the piercing.

JMF, you also need to look at this with a slightly different perspective. Every time YOU look in the mirror, its likely that all you focus on is your eyebrows, and that makes you feel that everyone else will notice them first too.

Most of the time when other people look at you, they will see a whole person, and the eyebrows won't be the first thing they notice or focus on.
