Far Behind Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Ok, so I had my surgery today, and it went fine; that's the good news. Now for the dumb news: As I was coming out of the anesthesia, I asked the nurse, who is a friend of mine, to call J and she thought I was lucid enought to know what I was talking about, so she did it. I don't even remember asking her to do it. Their conversation went something like this. Friend: Hi, this is xxx, a friend of Mel's, and the nurse at the surgical center, she just came out of surgery and wanted me to call you and let you know it went fine but she was asking for you. Him: So she had the surgery? I didn't realize it was definite; we haven't spoken in a few weeks. What did she say about me. Friend: Was asking for you and said she wanted you to know. She is kinda loopy right now, but would you like to talk to her? Him: I'm in a meeting right now, this is an inopportune time. Then he hung up on her! I am so annoyed with myself because I didn't want to do this; this was totally a sub-conscious action that I don't even remember doing. I also app arently asked her to call my ex-husband and got on the phone and spoke to him and asked about my kids, and don't recall that, either. As to J, well, I had decided to continue NC, and I blew it, and didn't even know I blew it til it was over. And his reaction is just so telling. That was over four hours ago, he has not called or emailed to see if I'm ok. That just says it all, doesn't it?
kymberann Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Yep that sums it up! Just chalk it up to a moment of lost sanity. It's ok, happens to the best of us! HOpe the recovery goes well!
EllaDerSpin Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Well at least his response is a wake up call. Ouch. I'm sorry (hugs)
btc8 Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 You were under general anesthesia! You could have asked to call Santa Claus. Don't feel bad, you had no control really about what you did. Had your friend not been there to recall it, you probably would not have remembered it. I wish you a speedy recovery!
Author Far Behind Posted February 21, 2008 Author Posted February 21, 2008 sort like a double recovery, if you will. NC will be a breeze now. And thank goodness for percocet, they are making the recovery that much better, too, lol.
