Issues & tissues Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Hello fellow loveshackers, Just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you who have held my hand and helped me through my very painful breakup. Today I reached a milestone - I changed my first lightbulb in 11 years. You may laugh but one of my biggest fears after he left was not knowing how to change a lightbulb should any of them blow. Just further confirms my theory that I no longer need him. Feel free to share the milestones (no matter how small they may be) you have reached since your breakup.
Trialbyfire Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Nothing can replace the feeling of the light going on! My most recent milestone was complete and utter disinterest, in every aspect of his life. It was boring to hear.
openingup Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Amen to disinterest! Isn't it great to get them out of your head for good?!
PinkRibbon Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 My milestone when I moved into my apartment I put together my queen size 4 poster wrought iron canopy bed by myself!:bunny::bunny: I was so proud....and exhausted. It took me hours but I did it!
LOVE DAISIES Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Mine was getting an email from him and being able to go a complete day without bothering to open itand read the B.S . It was Valentines day too!!!!!
sedgwick Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I'm not over mine in the slightest, but I just wanted to say GOOD FOR YOU!!!
s_n_d Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 Im so happy for you. Unlike you, I am still in love with my ex and I think itll take me a long time (4 months +) before I will be able to get over him. But I have these forums to help me through the many months ahead and Im so grateful for that.

When I broke up with my first live-in bf many years ago I was glad to see him go. I didn't cry for a week. The thing that set me off? I couldn't get the pickle jar open. I then balled for 4 hrs.

But I'm not going to stress about it - I will obviously have to get myself a pumped young handyman to help me with the big jobs round the house

Sedgwick/S_N_D - just give it time - you'll feel like a million dollars when you reach that first milestone! Edited February 20, 2008 by Issues & tissues
Author Issues & tissues Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 Can't wait until I reach my next milestone - anyone got any handy hints on how to use a plunger?
PinkRibbon Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Wow! I don't think I'm quite there yet. But I'm not going to stress about it - I will obviously have to get myself a pumped young handyman to help me with the big jobs round the house Oh don't get me wrong...I am still terribly in love with my husband and will always love him but I put that darn bed together by myself without his help. I cried when I was doing it because it was so unfair that all the times he helped people move he couldn't help me. His wife!! And it was so heavy and cumbersome but crying and putting it together made me feel good about myself. My thoughts as I was doing it was if I can put this together I can do anything in the house without his help.
