LexiB Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Heard about this on the radio. For anyone unaware, this is the name given to the day before valentines day b/c it is supposedly the day all married men (& I suppose women too) take their mistresses out. They say the restaurants will be just as crowed tonight as tomorrow. Just wondering how true this is for any OP here & if so, how do you plan to celebrate?
LucreziaBorgia Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I've seen it to be true on another OW board I lurk at. Some get the actual day, most are getting the day before or the day after.
GreenEyedLady Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Well, I'm not the OW anymore and we'll be celebrating it tomorrow...In the past, he always worked so he didn't take anyone out...He isn't your typical 9-5er...
IM5150 Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 My OW is driving out of town right now so I won't be able to. If she gets back early enough on Thursday we might.
Tomcat33 Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I thik there is truth to that. I used to work in the financial district of my city in the most corporate area and there were rumours that at one of the local swanky restaurants for lunch on Valentine's and Christmas it was filled with all the local stock brokers, lawyers and executives who had to take their mistresses out for a romantic Valentines lunch and gift giving session. It was a well known fact to all the locals in the area. Can't say I saw it with my own two eyes but it was the word on the street.

And apparently not nervous about being "discovered" by someone they know?... This makes me wonder if having an OW is some sort of status symbol for these MM's.

For the record, I have ended my a with the mm but he always took care of me on the holidays. He never missed one.

This makes me wonder if having an OW is some sort of status symbol for these MM's. Oh clearly! I've experienced this before with some previous MMs - it used to be a bit of a brag parade - being taken out to be shown off comparatively at the latest top end restaurant amongst all the other OW paraded by other "high flyers" and not a W to be seen anywhere! The younger / prettier / more elegant the OW, more virile / successful / important the MMs became in the eyes of their peers. It was like a sporting contest, competing for rank and status. And make no mistake, the OW weren't passive either - there'd be lots of window shopping to see what else was on offer, and whether they couldn't perhaps trade up themselves.
White Flower Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I'll see MM tomorrow on the actual holiday. We'll have lunch in public and he does say he likes to show me off. This makes me bashful, lol. I don't have a conceited bone in my body. I wish I could see him in the evenings, though. It's too risky for him I'm sure but I miss the ambience of dating at night.

Ah, love... just makes my heart melt.
