I've been seeing someone for a month now. We plan to go out on Valentine's Day. I'm not really sure if I should get him anything. I was thinking something a long the lines of a card or something really small. Since we are so new to each other I have absolutely no idea but I did want to do a little something to say I think he is special. Any ideas? Do guys expect anything for Valentine's Day?

If you two have plans on V Day then, yeah, it would be bad form to not get him anything.

A gift card to Best Buy or something like that, a nice bottle of wine, a book, a DVD, ... It depends what your guy is into.

For the general modern day man, you can't go wrong with a gift card. If you can't decide on which store to get him one, maybe you can find out where he shops quite a bit. You can never go wrong with Best Buy. Also, as silly as it sounds, Safeway carries over 100 different gc, so if you can't decide and have one near you, check it out.

I think I am going with the Gift Card and a nice V-day card. I think $20.00 is good. We've only been seeing each other for a month. Or is that too cheap?

This is why I don't like gift cards... at least not in the early days. I would be more inclined to go with a small gift that had significance in a personal sense (i.e., played on an inside joke, or represented his hobby, etc.) but that wasn't over-the-top (or even close to the top!) emotionally.

I'm thinking the same. i went to a bookstore for cards just now. didn't find one. all for ladies. :)

Seeing as you've only been together for about a month, I wouldn't go too crazy. Also I'm not sure how much you are willing to spend, but at the very most $50. However $20 would be more than enough. Again it also depends at which store you are putting a gc towards.

Bake some cookies, or a cake or something, that accomplishes 2 things: lets him know you care enough to put some time into him, and that you know your way around a kitchen.

I'm making my boy a beer flavored cake with cryptic messages on it out of sweet tarts (wow have they changed over the years) Nothing intense, just cheesy some of them are: "only you - e-mail- good time" "you rock-cool dude" "let's kiss-awesome" are some of the ones I put together.
