SpanksTheMonkey Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Hey every one incase some one missed my other posts I'm in a some what of an R with a rather nasty controlling man at the moment. We had a blow up today and he went off to his parents in a huff again as usual. The cops had come to his dads house to serve him papers long story I'll spare you it. But needless to say that sent him on a abusive rant and rave putting any one down who doesn't agree with him 100% Well I'm sick the last 2 days and I just couldn't deal with it so anyways he left. I locked the door behind him and I thought my evening would at least be quiet. It was until about 9:30PM thats when his parents who are elderly go to bed. He decides hes going to start playing phone games so he calls me and says for me not to call his parents house cause he wants nothing to do with me! Now mind you we have one of these blow ups at least once a week lately and each time he comes home the next day or when ever and it all starts again. So why bother to make a call like that? only thing I can figure is to aggravate hes 34 and I'd swear hes 16 the way he behaves some times! I have a Q I don't know if this is the right place to ask I know your not legal council. But if some one brings some one else into a foreign country and then abuses them dose the abused person have any legal action they can take against the abuser? This man has uprooted me brought me here and now is abusing me almost to the point of madness! I can't leave him because if I do then I cannot stay here and I have put allot into staying here. And I really have nothing left to go back to now anyways hes always threatening me with that as well that he will send me back there must be some way to stop him!!
Enema Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 It's "does". "Dose" is pronounced "Doh sss" as in, "Your dose is one tablespoon of medicine"

curiousnycgirl Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I would assume it depends on what country you are in. In the US I think the answer is no - you don't have the right to stay, unless you go through the appropriate channels. Truth is I don't think you have the right to live with someone unless you are married to them. I'm not an expert - so I hope someone who has moved here (or wherever you are) will chime in. Having said that - the law remains on your side if he is abusive, he can and will be arrested if it's a violent situation.
jj2007 Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Find a legal aide office in your area. Call and ask your questions. It's a good way to stay anonymous and get the answers you need. Good luck!

If you're in the U.S., most unfortunately there are those who lure women from other countries here then use their non-citizen status to force them to live in circumstances they don't wish to. I would have a consultation with a good immigration attorney.

Its kind of the opposite situation I'm afraid to get into to personal of details and thats always a bad idea on a public forum anyways but things are calm for now/tonight and thats always a blessing! Thank you for the advice tho
