FleshNBones Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 How would I know if I have an allergy, and the type of allergy? In the past, I have had ichy welts appear all over my body for unknown reasons. It happened after sleeping at a friend's house, but only once. It happened after drinking two tall glasses of milk, but only once with milk. Lately, I've had reactions where one whiff of dust would send me into a sneezing frenzy for hours. Spending a few hours outdoors seems to help. I would also get ichy after visiting a friend who has two cats in his house. Showering seems to take care of this.
whichwayisup Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 You need to go to your Dr and get some allergy tests done. It does seem you're allergic to dust, let alone cat dander. Can you eat cheese, yoghurt and icecream without a reaction?

Maybe there was something in that milk, or maybe I came into contact with something shortly after drinking it. There are too many possiblities.
klee Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 I am no doctor, but I am allergic to many things (peanuts, cat dander, grass, bee stings, dust, a lot of lotions, creams, etc, anti-perspirant, dude I could go on forever). Your doc can give you an allergy test to find out exactly what causes a reaction. They stick you with a bit of the substance that might cause the reaction and then see what happens. Unfortunately for me, I had to experience a lot of ER visits before I realized that I am allergic to like everything under the sun. And also, if you get hives, be careful! This is a symptom of Anaphylactic shock! VERY VERY dangerous---you can die in a matter of minutes if you actually go into AS. But, don't freak out, just because you are allergic to something doesn't mean that you will go into AS. I would carry some benadryl with you until you get to the doctor. But don't ignore it. And google Anaphylactic shock, just for your own info. Hope this helps. Good luck!
