Kamille Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I am having a day when the fact that my jeans are way too tight really bother me. I want to lose some of the weight I have gained. I am usually pretty good at losing way, but lately I feel like I can't even manage to make that 3 times a week gym apointment with myself. It doesn't help that for the last week I've been in another city, eating in restaurants and unable to work out - in part because I forgot my running shoes, in part because I am swamped with work. I need motivation. What do you guys do when you want to lose some weight (5-10 pounds)? How do you fit workouts into heavy schedules?
Trialbyfire Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Gyms never work for me and anyways, I can't stand having people watching when I'm working out. What I do is a daily routine of yoga and pilates, 20 - 45 minutes, at home. I either work out when I get up or a few hours before bed.

I used to do that, but now I spend way too much time at my boyfriend's who smokes inside!!! So I stopped. Sometimes I still do yoga, will open the windows -in the middle of canadian winter- and will ask him not to smoke inside until I am done. I guess I should just go back to my own place more often and get back into my old habits (to fit back into my old habits hahaha (ok french humor)) but we nearly spend all of our free time together and both hate to be apart.
tanbark813 Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Try to find a workout partner. I found it much easier to stick to a schedule when you have someone else on your ass than it is when you're working out alone. Or watch Fight Quest on the Discovery Channel. That always makes me want to work out and train to be a warrior.

Hey... yeah... I'm just going to go buy sneakers at Payless or something. thanks kmt. And the restaurant thing, I try to make healthy choices, but the fact is I live in a small city where there is like 2 interesting restaurant and am currently in Toronto which is like, chokeful of my favorite: international cuisine: from ethipian, to thai, to vietnamese, to japanese, to french to what have you. It's all here, it's all cheap, it's all delicious and sooooo hard to resist.

Author Kamille Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 Control yourself LOL. Guys I'm officially hiring KMT as my fitness coach. TBF, you can be my dating coach - well you have been my dating coahc and Tan, you, are, well, GOD. God, grant me the strenght to control my urges to eat the whole bowl of shrimp curry.
Author Kamille Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 (edited) Control yourself double post. I'll use it to say that, ok I know jeans stretch, but they feel a lot more comfy then yesterday. Maybe I was just bloated from the falafel I ate for lunch. But I still want to work out those extra 5 pounds and feel like my weight is not spiralling out of control. Edited January 22, 2008 by Kamille

Funny how different it can be when you're a participant v. third-party. Might I also recommend Touche? She kicks my arse when I get out of line. I'm also willing to share your shrimp bowl, if need be.
ElvenPriestess Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 TBF, lovin' the avatar:) Kamille, some good rules of thumb, do NOT eat past 8:00PM, eat healthy, more often, smaller portions, watch the calorie intake, and if you don't want to work out at a gym there are LOTS of things you can do at home.

You're a full time job. Hey, Kamille I feel for you. Only I have the opposite problem...struggling to gain. We should swap where we live. I'd have a real time eating at all those fabulous places. I love all of that ethnic cuisine. We have nothing here. You'd lose weight in no time.
