yumi Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Hi! This is my first post. I'm a girl from Sweden, so I'm practicing my English at the same time! :) I am 21 years old and I want to go to a university. But I can't decide what to study. I have many interests, like clothes, fashion, and exercise, but also computers and languages. I wonder if someone who is a little older and went through the same thing can give me any advice - how did you chose what to do, and did it turn out OK in the end? Thank you! Yumi
melodymatters Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I think it is very hard to figure out what you are going to do with " the rest of your life" at 21, so first off, relax ! people nowadays change directions and careers much more than in the past. I would explore ALL of your interests, by job shadowing people in the field if possible, and read forums for people with certain jobs. I have been reading LOTS of forums about potential career shifts for myself, and learning quite a bit. You need to look at SO many things : projected need, average salary, working condiditons, room for advancement and on and on... I would say this is one of the more important and EXCITING things to research, so make it your mission to learn as much as you can ! ( much better than worrying about a boy who's name you won't even remember a year from now !) So, I'm pulling for you, good luck and let us know what you've learned ! melody
