almosthere Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Ok, this is for girls to reply to... Would you be attracted, or more attracted, to a guy who told you that... He doesn't want to smoke or drink Is very very selective with girls Is career oriented to the point where he wants to make millions over a short period Doesnt ever flirt with girls, except you Any help is good.
Green Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Im not a girl, but personaly I think you need to worry a little less about women will be attracted to and try to live your life for the things your attracted to
Jilly Bean Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 If a guy told me all that, I'd yawn. He would sound like a poser to me, and someone who was feeding me lines and trying to make himself appear to be this Godlike individual. It's too contrived and too fake. I mean, why not throw in that this guy is ONLY interested in my pleasure, and would go shoe-shopping with me and hold the bags. Personally, I don't like guys who TELL me what they are about. I much prefer to observe them in action, and draw my own conclusions.

allina Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Would you be attracted, or more attracted, to a guy who told you that... He doesn't want to smoke or drink Is very very selective with girls Is career oriented to the point where he wants to make millions over a short period Doesnt ever flirt with girls, except you I would think he was cheesy and was telling me lines. It is stuff YOU observed, observed, observed.... Uh, ok well in your first post you said TOLD so which one is it?
Jilly Bean Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 LOL. Well, OK then, if I OBSERVED him being this person, then I'm not sure what are you driving at. Would I like him? Would I respect him? Would I want him? Thing is - everyone has different attraction criteria. I would never date a smoker, but to a woman who smoked, she might be turned off that you don't. I am a very light drinker, but dating someone who never drinks makes me feel like an alcoholic if I have a glass of wine with dinner once a week. Point is, these criteria you've outlined might be attractive to some, but not to others. You cant expect to get unilateral buy-in that everyone will dig these qualities. As KMT said, just be yourself, and the right girl will be attracted to who you are, and what you have to offer.
MakeLemonade Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 People who don't drink at ALL unless they are a member of AA or have some sort of liver ailment/medical reason for not drinking creep me out. Who doesn't enjoy an occasional glass of wine or a good ale or perhaps a lovely Stoli cocktail of some sort? People w/ sticks up their a$$e$ that's who. To be TOO selective in choosing a date implies arrogance and a narrow mind. And an over-inflated self image. The work/millions thing? Would tell me work would always be first, thus a relationship would always be on the back burner or an afterthought. The I don't with flirt w/ anyone but you just sounds like a line, a lie. If you were planning on using that speech on someone, might want to tweak it a little.
Author almosthere Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 It wont let me edit the original. You observed these things, he does not just say stupid things like that...Maybe this is a too specific case-by-case question. She is an attractive girl, we are both 18, who smokes sometimes but not often (pot and whatnot that is), and drinks a fair amount. She is rather quiet. Don't know if that helps.

MakeLemonade Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Ah, well 18 - that kinda changes it a bit...NO drinking for you young lady....JK.
allina Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Ah, well 18 - that kinda changes it a bit...NO drinking for you young lady....JK. That does change things. So at 18 what's your plan for earning millions of $$$$ in a short span of time?
Nevermind Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Uhm. Right. Let me check the secret girl's agenda for the 18 year old partial smoker who likes to drink. Ah, page 214. I'll just copy the chapter: "Girls at this age, like girls at every age, don't follow a rule in whom they find attractive it is the mix of everything and the way her possible partner behaves. Attraction cannot be explained by a simple formula." Hope that helps.
Jilly Bean Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Ah, well 18 - that kinda changes it a bit...NO drinking for you young lady....JK. LOL. Can I get a margarita, rocks, no salt please? Almost - if you are asking us if she is attracted to you - who knows. We're not her, can't get inside her head to know what makes her tick or turns her on. As mentioned above, just be yourself, and if shes into you, then you will know soon enough. And if not, then you will find someone who DOES appreciate these things about you.

I have a friend who does not drink because it makes her very sleepy and she doesn't have a stick up her a$$. She is a fun person - all without alcohol. Imagine that.
Art_Critic Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Is career oriented to the point where he wants to make millions over a short period Don't we all ... I would think that that type of stuff being told to a girl would turn her off... Women don't want a man that brags about his success's.. she wants a successful man that has the self confidence to not have to brag about his desires to be rich ..
MakeLemonade Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I have a friend who does not drink because it makes her very sleepy and she doesn't have a stick up her a$$. She is a fun person - all without alcohol. Imagine that. That kinda falls into the medical reason thing I mentioned, it physically makes her uncomfortable or doesn't agree with her, come on - it was a tongue in cheek reply anyway. No harm meant - I know people have their reasons but I have also known people who don't drink that think they are better than others that do, they are holier than thou about it and THOSE are the people I believe to have the sticks up said a$$es.
blind_otter Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 TO be honest, even if I observed this behavior I personally wouldn't be attracted. I like a bit of a bad boy, sad to say.
Trialbyfire Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 He doesn't want to smoke or drink While neither one of these is a deal-breaker, a healthy guy is awesome. For smokers, as long as it's not extreme and done outdoors, although my preference is for him not to be a smoker. For drinkers, as long as it's not extreme, such as a social drinker, it's all good. Is very very selective with girls Absolutely an attractive quality. Is career oriented to the point where he wants to make millions over a short period The millions don't matter, what matters more is that drive to succeed and be self-supporting. If money isn't the main driver for this man, he will be hot to me. Doesnt ever flirt with girls, except you A little lighthearted flirting is okay, a lot or flirting with intent, are big red flags and deal-breakers, bar none.
2cents Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 We all have that plan when we are 18 and meet the perfect girl. I know you really mean it, deep down. But remember the best laid plan falls to pieces the second of exacution. Have a back up plan. But if you are genuine in your proposal to her she should be flattered, not swept away but flettered. Now if you will pardon my my beer is empty and I need a smoke.
Author almosthere Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 I will elaborate on the career thing. I am only 18 but own 3 small businesses and am in the process of opening two new online services that should be very vey successful and I am going to be backed by some major businesses as far as funding goes. If I do not own an extrememly successful company by soph. year of college I want to become a stock broker, though that area is awfully weak right now. Furthermore, I havent played baseball since 8th grade, I just decided I should try it a few weeks ago and I have been throwing phenomenally. So well that I have a very good chance of being drafted in the 2008 Major League Baseball June Draft barring injury. I have a personality where if I am not in the top 1% of whatever I do, I just drop it. I need to be "better" than everyone, I dont care how messed up that might be. However, I am a silent cocky kid, if you understand that. I think this whole personality of mine is why I will only go after the very best girl available in my opinion, and wont consider any less.
Trialbyfire Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I will only go after the very best girl available in my opinion, and wont consider any less. Be careful what you wish for. Make certain your main selection criteria is compatibility. Women aren't trophies.
Author almosthere Posted January 18, 2008 Author Posted January 18, 2008 Be careful what you wish for. Make certain your main selection criteria is compatibility. Women aren't trophies. Best to ME. Some might say there is 1 or 2 better looking girls, but I like her more, but still like the girl with a bf as well...
Trialbyfire Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Best to ME. Some might say there is 1 or 2 better looking girls, but I like her more, but still like the girl with a bf as well... Poaching isn't an ideal way to start a mature, long-term relationship. If a girl is poachable, watch out in the future. She will be someone who has issues.

I Luv the Chariot OH Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Because of this: He doesn't want to smoke or drink I would think he's boring and a loser, so no.
