AnotherGirl Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 I don't think I am ready to start dating again because I kind of still sometimes wish my ex would come back and I still have feelings for him. But anyways, going off another post in the breakup or coping forum... I have crossed eyes that are quite noticeable. How much of an impact does that have on dating? I used to be idealistic and think that genuine guys out there wouldn't care...but they do! It seems like everyone would care to some extent, and that people might not give a person a second or third chance (in being a potential girlfriend/boyfriend) because of crossed eyes. It would take many many many more times and tries if any emotional attraction were to be felt towards the cross-eyed person. Not that I am willing to change my eyes right now...but I'm just wondering...what is your take on this issue? Also, on a non-relationship-related topic, would being cross-eyed make you give a potential employer a bad impression of you?
Jilly Bean Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 I think it depends on your age, really. If you are in high school, then yes, it could be a disqualifier as kids are brutal. Older people wont care. I have a friend at the gym who is HOT and hes a dentist and has crossed eyes. Sometimes Im not sure which eye to look at when talking to him, but I could care less and it doesnt detract from him the slightest. As a former hiring manager, I also wouldnt care abour your eyes. If you can do the job, are personable, professional and clean cut, then thats what I care about and your eyes are totally irrelevant to me.
I Luv the Chariot OH Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Sorry if this is an ignorant question, but is that the same as a lazy eye? I once dated a guy with a lazy eye. It was after high school, yeah. I wasn't physically attracted to him, but he was really smart (but not smart enough to make it last!)

I agree- depends on your age group. The older people get, the more that substance matters rather than looks.
Lee725 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 How much of an impact does that have on dating? I would date a guy with crossed eyes. A girl i use to work with was completely in love with a guys who had very crossed eyes (both turned in toward his nose), they were getting married & having kids. (have been out of contact recently). He was very self concious and use to wear sun glasses all the time, i dont know why cause he was the sweetest guy. Not that I am willing to change my eyes right now...but I'm just wondering...what is your take on this issue? Anyone who is going to make you feel awkward or unattractive for having crossed eyes is not worth one minute of your time. Mr right is out there somewhere, you never know (dont take this the wrong way) but if you join a group for people with visual (?), (I dont want to call it the wrong word), you may find a great guy who wont worry a bit! - Just a thought. Also, on a non-relationship-related topic, would being cross-eyed make you give a potential employer a bad impression of you I have been in management & personell for about 10 years now (got in there young) & as a business owner now, i would certainly not discrimnate against anyone who is cross eyed. Jilly said it perfectly!
