tanbark813 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Just an FYI: the article was written by a guy; he posted it to the "niceguy" forum (which, yes, that forum is rather woman-hating). It's a fact - he owns up to writing it outright in the original post, which was back in November. Can you provide the link to where you learned this?
serial muse Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 This article may or may not be true but it os spot on with many women though most of these types don't ever look at themselves and face the truth. They spend their lives blaming men for all their problems. I still care about men and care about helping us win. Just because I happened to stumble upon a great woman does not mean there aren't many men still going through hell and I am passionette about helping win the battle of the sexes. Whoa. But this just blames women for all the problems. I'm sure you see the illogic and hypocrisy in that. It gets nobody anywhere except onto bitter message boards with other bitter people oozing bitterness at each others' genders, blaming innocent people for things other bitter people did to them in the past. Sigh. Well done. You do have something good, Woggle. Celebrate it by working to spread joy, not hate. Wouldn't that be more helpful to men (and women), in the long run?
Pyro Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 This article may or may not be true but it os spot on with many women though most of these types don't ever look at themselves and face the truth. They spend their lives blaming men for all their problems. I am happily married but I still care about men and care about helping us win. Just because I happened to stumble upon a great woman does not mean there aren't many men still going through hell and I am passionette about helping win the battle of the sexes. I didn't realize that in addition to Iraq, there is a second war going on.
serial muse Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I also want to point out that yes, it matters that this story about an unrealistically monstrous woman was written by a man. And here's why. Sure, individual bits of this story may be true, for individual people; sure, *******s exist among women. But all of this together in one post? I mean, you could create the same kind of Frankenstory of horror anecdotes about a terrible "man," too, but where would that get you? Nowhere realistic or constructive. This sort of thing just continues to sow hatred and anger by creating a kind of straw man monster of a "feminist." It's not real; it's just there to get the masses to grab their pitchforks and light their torches. And, of course, that's exactly what happens. Nothing like a little "anecdote" to stir up the emotions of the masses. It's an old manipulative political trick, but somehow, it still works, even on otherwise intelligent people. Sigh.
Author Woggle Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 I didn't realize that in addition to Iraq, there is a second war going on. There very much is a cold war between men and women in our society right now. Now there are no bombc and tanks but men are over here and women are over there and until that gets resolved I will choose my side.

A certain percentage of both sides are involved I'm sure, but not the majority. This "war" doesn't affect you. I mean you have your incredible wife, so why are you even concerned about this "war"?

Being a victim of the war on my childhood and in my first marriage I am now concerned about men still stuck in the trenches.
Pyro Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Being a victim of the war on my childhood and in my first marriage I am now concerned about men still stuck in the trenches. You have to learn to leave the past in the past. Concentrate on what and who you have in front of you. If she went through what you did, you'd tell her the same thing. You can't expect all men to get out of the trenches. Some will get out and some won't. Some will learn the hard way and some won't learn at all, but your extreme views will not help them, but make them just as bad. Being stuck in the trenches is just as bad as being a woman hater.
serial muse Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Being a victim of the war on my childhood and in my first marriage I am now concerned about men still stuck in the trenches. Well, is it absolutely necessary to step all over the bodies of the fallen from both sides in the process? Another way to go would be to declare a cease-fire.
Author Woggle Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 Well, is it absolutely necessary to step all over the bodies of the fallen from both sides in the process? Peace only works if everybody wants it.

Author Woggle Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 Do you think that stooping to their level will make things for the better? No but it makes me feel like I am at least refusing to be a doormat and not turning into a spinless jellyfish. At least I am making progress. I resolved the issue with my wife and my friend without talking about divorcing her.

You would only be a doormat or jellyfish if your wife walked all over you and last time I checked, you are not at war with your wife.

Pyro Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I am not at war with her or all women but if a woman is against me I am against her. Well thats different. You said earlier that its an all out war with men vs. women. Thats an overgeneralization.
Lovelybird Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 people who has difficulty to 'let it go', either they idolatry other human being too much, or they has large ego. working on self is more important than trying to working on others IMO
bozwa Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 When there are problems between men and women, in one way, shape or form, BOTH parties are at fault. Not just the woman. Not just the man. I don't know of women who just sit around and bash men and egg eachother on. We might sit discuss a problem we are having and ask for advice on how to handle it - which I can vouch NEVER ends with "he's just a man! Walk on him! take him for everything he has!" Just for example, my best friend is getting a divorce from her H. She can come up with 100 things he did wrong that caused the end of the marriage. It is not the JOB of a GOOD friend to egg her on and say "OH, and remember he did THIS to you and THAT to you?" No, your job as a good friend is to give all sides of perspective to your friend from an "outsider's" view. So I softly and sweetly let her in on a few things she may not have been thinking of at the time out of anger what SHE had done to contribute to the separation. They BOTH were at fault - they both were mean to eachother - they BOTH were in the wrong.

Btw, I love the word "frankenstory." Did you just coin that? Edited January 10, 2008 by shadowplay

When Wog first posted this I knew it was totally phoney, mostly because of writers false feelings of remorse. However, I have to admit that upon first glance... many of the attitudes and actions reflected in the story fit my mother very well. So.... while rare, I would not call this type of person a straw monster. They do exist... and we should all strive to be as different from them as possible. Plus we should find some way to label them so they can be known and reviled by all... but thats just a pipedream. Makes you wonder how many men actually understand the way women think. Not many.... but then how many women understand how men think? How many really want to?

Makes you wonder how many men actually understand the way women think. Btw, I love the word "frankenstory." Did you just coin that? None of us really understand how you think. There are times when a woman is very logical and reasonable with her thought process, then times when she seems completely off her rocker about the smallest thing. Many people have agreed that at least some of what is in that story has been proven by hearing the confessions of other women. If you believe that the story wasn't written by one woman, that's your opinion. But unless you can prove that, no one can say otherwise.

It was about a man that hated women so much, he decided he would pick the most vulnerable, defenseless woman he could find, woo her to the point of no return, then dump her so badly she would hopefully commit suicide. He chose a shy deaf woman. Yes, it was a grueling and hoirrble as it sounds. I didn't believe that was all men, although probability would show a few would be like that. In conclusion, I think that is why Shadow and I are rather daunted by how much you guys are all too willing to believe this *could* be a lot of women (except cobra)

I suppose that's out of the realm of believeability too?
Author Woggle Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 This might have been written by a man but it describes many women to a T. If this article does not apply to a woman I don't know why she is getting offended.

Not all women are like that and, who knows, maybe no one is that extreme, but there is an element of truth to it otherwise no one would have believed it from the beginning.
