sweetbutcheeky Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Please help! A girl friend and I are single and I told her to find a guy we need to go where they are, so we are going out Saturday night she said it was my turn to pick a place! Anyone here live in or near Toronto, Ontario, Canada and can suggest a place we can go Sat night that is good for meeting guys (can hear the other person and so on) and a fun place with good music and so on? Thanks much!!
crosswordfiend Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I think wergo lives in Toronto. Have you read his thread in the In Search Of forum? Fascinating... Maybe you guys can hook up. Anyways, I may be able to help. Got any specific criteria? Occupation, mentality, age group, ethnicity etc...
I Luv the Chariot OH Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 In my experience, Toronto is one of the easiest/best cities to meet people, just because there are so many of them, and the nightlife is very active. It really does depend on what kind of guy you are looking for, though--the best general suggestion I can give is to go somewhere you enjoy and meet someone there. If you're not into bars, you probably won't be into the guys you meet there either.
Author sweetbutcheeky Posted January 8, 2008 Author Posted January 8, 2008 I was actually looking for a name of a place, I have one idea but it would be nice to have some options. I am new to the area which is why it's harder for me to pick a place this time, I don't know which are good and so on. Not sure what she is looking for, but I am looking for someone age 26-36 ish. Has a good job, not an idiot lol and ethnicity doesn't matter (though mostly white, black and mixed). Also we are in the east end of TO (me Queen and her Danforth), so something TTC accessible. Thanks!
Kamille Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 My favorite spot was The Gladstone in Queen W. I always found people super easy to chat up and very interesting if definitely artsy. I went to U of T and also enjoyed the Duke of York on Prince Arthur (St-George Station) which I think is closer to the demographic you are looking for.
D-Lish Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Oh boy.... do I have a place for you! Not sure of your age.... but my gf's and I have found this great place called "Two Cats" - on Queen or King I think (google it)...it's across the street from the Brant House. It's smallish- but always gets packed and there are tons of men there. Later- you can move across the street to the Brant House, which is also fun. Drake Hotel, Harmony, Gladstone....also good places. I love Two Cats though. Good music and lots of approaching going on. What is your age group?? D
crosswordfiend Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Pretty much any place you go out in Toronto there will be plenty of men. But here are some suggestions for finding friendly people. If you actually want to hear yourself talk, I would stay away from the clubs. Brant House comes to mind. Also, The Drake and Gladstone are nice during the week, but they are also destination venues so on the weekends they attract the suburban crowd. I'll show my downtown bias and say that there is something about having to organize a group, carpool, designated driver, parking etc... that screams: we come as a group, we stay as a group, we leave as a group. So in my books, not too friendly. Have you considered going out on a weeknight? Places are less crowded and there will be more of a regular crowd - a little community. In general, I find the people I meet in the artsy neighbourhoods a lot more interesting, but it's because it suits my personality. I've been spending time on Ossington (between Dundas & Queen) lately. There's The Dakota, Crooked Star, Reposado, Sweaty Betty's to name a few. The beauty here is that you can hit them all in the same night. If that's not your style and you like a more corporate set, there are always places downtown like Bier Markt and The Irish Embassy - both fairly well known meat markets but more the Friday after work scene. Good luck. It's a big city, but the neighbourhoods are very distinct so after a while you'll find your niche.
Author sweetbutcheeky Posted January 9, 2008 Author Posted January 9, 2008 Thanks for all the great recommendations, I took down the list and emailed her. It's just the 2 of us Saturday so we don't have to worry about the big group thing. I am 30 and she is 26. And looking for more mature guy, doesn't mean older but a mature non college crowd. Thanks!

Start your night at Two Cats then- you won't be disappointed! Might see ya there...lol It's a 25+ crowd, and the men are mature and the music is great.
Author sweetbutcheeky Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 Thanks! 2 cats is on the list, though Sat is 80's music so not sure if that's what I feel like listening to. The Drake is Electronic/Pop Sat which I also isn't my thing. Hmm I would love some top 10 / R&B / Hip Hop type music. I know the quality of men is the most important thing, but gotta love great music!
