Guys if a girl has a flat.. hard stomach.. not like a full-fledge 6-pack or that of a body builder... would it be a turn on or turn off..?? J/w..... Thanks!

Posted

.....I imagine it would beat a women who's got a flabby pouch that rivals that of a kangaroo! :)

Total turn on. Especially if they wear midriff shirts. mmmm

Why would it be a turn off? Just curious...

because some guys like "puffy" women!

I understand that, but to me there's a difference between having a preference and being "turned off".

flat fit stomachs on girls can be a turn on. I've dated both girls that are overweight and girls that are very fit and I've been REALLY attracted and arroused by both.

I think it has more to do with the whole package than just the bits and pieces.

hey i am 14 and i weigh 115 and i am 5'7 am i over weight?

or do u think i am ok enough to get my belly button pierced? :o

To XOXOashleyXOXO:

That's not overweight, and if you want to get a belly-ring, ask your Mom first

As for, what turns a guy on, I have been told before by guys that my abs were one of the best they seen. They are real skinny on the side to asentuate my hips, and in the middle it's muscular/hard.

No, not at all.

I dunno what you look like xoxo, but I really find it a turn off when you have a slightly overweight girl or bigger, in a short shirt baring her midriff, ugh jesus thats nasty. (I'm not saying you are overweight, in fact I think we are getting into a legally hazy zone with me just talking to a 14 year old about whats hot or not.)

Now I like thick girls, so i'm not against a little pooch, BUT they have to know that you can't pull off the Brittney Spears look.

I have thin arms, I can't wear a tight shirt or a get a tattoo around my biceps... I'd look dumb, ya know?

I'd just look, if somethings hanging over the top of the jeans, start doing some sittups. IF you're going for the hiphugger, bare-midriff look.

ashley, that might be your mom's way of saying you cannot get anything pierced while you're under her roof!

as far as wearing seductively cut hip-huggers or low-cut pants, shorts or skirts, I don't think there are many women who can wear them well -- I see pretty girls or women who are in wonderful shape, but look like ET the extra terrestrial when they wear low-cut clothes, it's just not a very flattering on most women.

theres nothing sexiers than a lady with a nice firm stomach. This is a sure way to tell if she cares about her body.

You might want to really reconsider this one!

Not only do those darn things take FOREVER to heal, but wearing jeans or anything that pushes against that area can be really painful. Also, once you remove your jewelry for cleaning or changing, it can be really difficult to put anything back in without getting all queasy and "light headed!"

Weight has nothing to do with whether or not you can be pierced. It's actually depending on the "kind" of skin you have. A professional should be able to take a look and let you know...but sometimes they'll do it anyway just for the money.

You see, some people's skin actually has a different way of "healing" and may even push your piercing out over time. MINE DID!

Of course, it may look cute and sexy. But just like many of the things we women do to enhance our looks...there is always some sort of discomfort involved. :o

I used to have a firm flat stomach. Then I had a child and my insides got used and spare room was found. Now I have a belly, your stock standard belly, some days it is flat, some days it is a little pot bellied.

I don't think it bothers my partner one bit. I certianly do not worry about it. Small 14 year old girls have flat stomachs, women have stomachs of all shapes and sizes.

you should be careful because a girl who is 5'7 should be between the weight of 130-150 pounds. You're definitly underweight. That extra layer of fat that society tells us to get rid of is very important to keep. Its the layer of fat that protects your baby when you get pregnant. A healthy girl or woman will have a layer of fat around the mid-drift area...

Not for age 14.

That extra layer of fat that society tells us to get rid of is very important to keep. Its the layer of fat that protects your baby when you get pregnant.

Society? The same society that continues to increase in both number and degree of overweight/obese individuals? I don't believe anyone is suggesting that a pregnant woman be concerned with having a flat abdominal area.

A healthy girl or woman will have a layer of fat around the mid-drift area

Of course....as will men. However, that layer need not be very thick. It is equally irresponsible to recommend superfluous fat storage as it is to recommend an unrealistic thin look.

what do you think this forum is? Or comes from? I think this forum is a partial reflection of the attitudes of society. I saw no one telling this girl that was is underweight...do any of you even have a realistic view of what weight a typical girl of 5'7 should be (if you do, then speak up)? And men are not born with that extra layer of fat in the mid drift area. I'm amazed that this girl would even think she is over weight...who do you think is ultimatly telling her that she needs to be very thin with no fat on her body? Ok, her friends and family maybe...but where do her firends and family get that idea from? One has to look at body height to determine the correct weight of a person. If she were 14 and 5'3 then it might be a different story. But I'm sure she is a bit taller than other girls her age and can't expect to be the same weight as them and still be healthy.

I wasn't saying that any one of you were telling a pregnant woman to have a flat stomach...I was saying that this girl should be preparing herself for when that time comes. When she wants to start having children, it will be important for her to have that extra payer of fat. I'm really saying that it is ok to have that extra layer of fat...its there for a reason.

what do you think this forum is?

Loveshack.

Or comes from?

Thousands of thankless hours that Paul has devoted to making it a reality.

I think this forum is a partial reflection of the attitudes of society.

I think you'll find a cornucopia of attitudes and opinions here. As moderators, we tend to urge people towards that which is healthy....but you're still going to get a wide variety of responses to most questions. There is no single source of truth here.

do any of you even have a realistic view of what weight a typical girl of 5'7 should be (if you do, then speak up)?

I'm fully aware of what are realistic bodyweights and proportions for healthy men and women. That's why I tend to be the one moderating the physical fitness area of this site...it is my area of expertise.

And men are not born with that extra layer of fat in the mid drift area.

What we are born with is irrelevant. In fact, men tend to store their bodyfat in the abdomen area while women tend to store it in the hip/thigh area. If you take a man and a woman of comparably equivalent bodyfat levels (relative to what is healthy), the man will be carrying more fat in the abdomen area than the woman will.

One has to look at body height to determine the correct weight of a person.

Height is but one characteristic to consider...it is not conclusive in itself. Height/weight correlation (used for BMI computation) is horribly inaccurate. I'm obese by that standard.

If she were 14 and 5'3 then it might be a different story.

You assume that this a fully developed woman at age 14. That is not accurate. She has just started puberty. She could easily add 10-15lbs to her frame by the time she is 18 by simply becoming a woman.

...I was saying that this girl should be preparing herself for when that time comes. When she wants to start having children, it will be important for her to have that extra payer of fat.

What? She should start preparing for childbearing NOW? That's just unrealistic. A woman does not need to prepare her body for the theory of pregnancy.....much less a 14-year-old girl that (hopefully) isn't going to be pregnant for a good 10 years.

I do! She may be slightly underweight, but she is not severely underweight or in any danger of wasting away, if that is what you are worried about. I'm 5'6" and weigh 115 and my doctor recently told me I was perfectly healthy. (Sorry, but IMO, better to be slightly underweight than slightly overweight.) I personally think many of those "ideal weight" charts are full of it. I look and feel much better at the very low end of the chart. I can't imagine weighing 140+, which is considered healthy for my height. I'd be huge. (And I wear a size 4 or 6 now, which is not that small considering they offer sizes 0 and 2.)

I'm amazed that this girl would even think she is over weight...who do you think is ultimatly telling her that she needs to be very thin with no fat on her body?

I realize that I am an inch shorter than the girl in question, but I can assure you that with my height and weight, I DO have fat on my body. I am nowhere near Calista Flockhart, and I doubt she is either. A lot of this depends on the structure of her body and where her fat gathers. At 5'7", she is not "that thin." She probably looks perfectly healthy and fine, especially at 14.

I wasn't saying that any one of you were telling a pregnant woman to have a flat stomach...I was saying that this girl should be preparing herself for when that time comes.

WTF? Are we all just baby making machines? Maybe she doesn't ever want to have kids. Or all we all supposed to keep a layer of fat around "just in case"?

ok, I think the real problem lies in the girl asking if she is overweight..doesn't anyone esle see a problem with this? And just because they sell clothes that are a size 0 or 2, doesn't mean that its healthy to be at that size. They make little tiny diapers for premature babies, but does that mean that its healthy for a baby to be at that weight just because they make them in that size. You're using poor logic here. Also, I don't think that a girl around the age of fourteen is too young to start making good choices that will effect her later in life. Her body itself is preparing for having babies just by starting her period/ going through puberty...I'm not saying that this girl must or will have a baby, but I'm speaking in general terms.

I have no problem with her asking. She probably doesn't know...which is why she asked. I'd have a problem if she BELIEVED she was overweight. Being unsure of your body and how it fits into the rest of the world....hell, that's what being a teenager is. This is one of the great services we can offer here - a place for uncertain teens to ask legitimate questions and get straight answers without feeling dumb or singled out.

I don't think that a girl around the age of fourteen is too young to start making good choices that will effect her later in life.

I agree....GETTING pregnant is one of those choices. Preparing for it isn't.

Her body itself is preparing for having babies just by starting her period/ going through puberty

That's more of a matter of becoming functional rather than preparing....and it still doesn't mandate her being a certain size at a certain age. It's just premature to get up in arms over this hypothetical issue. I'm not concerned with how she MIGHT be built sometime in the future, should she decide to have children. Let's not lose sight of what the girl is actually saying.

Not at all. I think it's perfectly normal to wonder if you are overweight or not. As I said before, you have no idea how her body is structured, and nor do I.

You're using poor logic here.

I don't see how I am. If I'm only an inch shorter than her and weigh the same and my DOCTOR was not concerned, then how can her weight be as unhealthy as you describe? I think a lot of teen girls are a little underweight as their bodies are forming.

Also, I don't think that a girl around the age of fourteen is too young to start making good choices that will effect her later in life.

You seem to be assuming that this girl is starving herself and not eating. Where did she ever say that? What evidence do you have that she isn't making good choices already?
