My Mom was on it earlier this year, and lost about 30 pounds. She would supplement meals with her own salads, but beyond that, I know she said the provided food was filling, albeit not the greatest taste. But I know she stuck with it, and really dropped the weight! Good luck...

There is NO SUCH THING as a diet to lose weight. There is ONLY a permanent lifestyle change that consists of new and permanent eating habits as well as exercise and other changes. Nutrisystem food sucks and is very high in sodium, which is necessary to preserve it.

If you lose weight on Nutrisystem or any other program, that's great. But unless you stay on it forever you will gain the weight back. A weight loss and maintenance program has to have a permanent lifestyle and diet change component in order to be successful. Nutrisystem is meant to be a temporary program, a few months up to a year.

The very closest thing to a program that promotes changes in eating habits is Weight Watchers. I have no affiliation with them and make no money if you join. You can even do so online. However, the program enables you to EAT FOODS THAT YOU BUY, everyday foods. It simply teaches portion control, something Americans don't understand and EXACTLY what causes obesity.

I understand Weight Watchers is not expensive and there are meetings at convenient locations in most cities or, as I said, you can do the program right on the computer.

Bottom line. You have to learn how to eat a whole new way and do it for the rest of your life. Try anything else and you will gain the weight back, unconditionally guaranteed. There is no good reason to pay a big price to eat cardboard flavored food for a few months only to gain the weight back.

Diets are for a lifetime. Eat less, watch what you eat and exercise more and you won't need a diet at all. You'll lose the weight just fine. And, yes, eat less carbs, go easy on deserts and sugar in general.

True, diets are a lifestyle change. That should be obvious to everyone, almost without saying.

Forget the nutrisystem program. It's a profit driven corperation that does not have your health concerns in mind. Why buy their products when you can...

EAT FOODS THAT YOU BUY, everyday foods.

...as Tony T suggests.

I will give Nutrasystem one thing. It does stress the Glycemic Index, which is a very important, and often ignored aspect of eating healthy. Though I suspect they are using it wrong concidering they sell brownies and crap like that.

Portion control is important, but also understanding the science behind how the body processes food. There is too much misinformation on the market for consumers to make educated decisions in regards to what is healthy. And the FDA is in bed with these coorperate vultures. As far as I'm concerned, enough info is out there, it's just going to take some time for the cream to rise so to speak.
