Ok I hope this is not a stupid post but here goes.

Does anyone ever pray to God to bring your EX back? I haven't been praying about this issue but should I be?

Thanks, I'm just curious of your thoughts.

I never have but I know plenty of people that have, and from what I’ve seen it's not a good idea.. The problem is if she doesn't come back a part of you is going to blame God for not helping you. God does have a plan for you, but trying to predict his plan can get you in a lot of trouble and pain. The last thing you want is to feel betrayed by your ex and God.

My advice to you is to hand over the problem to God give him full control of the situation, and then trust in him that he’ll do what’s best. I know easier said then done, but it helped me out tremendously. If you do believe in him, and trust that he's taking care of it you are relieved of all the stress of "what do I do next".. Which can eat you alive..

I hope this helps.

Doing so could be EXTREMELY dangerous. Sometimes God will oblige just to teach a serious lesson. When people break up it's for a very good reason and the majority of times reconciliation is not indicated and can be nightmarish....worse than any imaginable pain that must be endured to get over the parting.

hi!

i think that it is for sure the most positive and promising option you have. in agreeing with the previous posts, God is in control of everything. Its going to happen his way no matter what...but there is no reason to not voice your desires to him. I would...and do, tell him what i want all the time...just so there is no confusion :). Further more, if its something that is burdening you it is a good idea to ask for God to relieve you of what it troubling you.

I really wanted to get back at my cheating ex. For awhile I prayed for her to "aquire" cervical cancer, or maybe MS which runs in her family.

Pretty soon I lost interest.

Prayer...the last refuge of a scoundrel

</lisa simpson quote>

If you believe in god...he/she gave people free will...don't think god cares whether you get the ex back or not

but if it makes you feel better...then do it

personally I pray to the devil...he's more fun

i prayed to be strong and mature in dealing with a broken heart, not to get someone back.

Hey buddy, I actually found more faith in God after my fiance left me. Not only for understanding but to help me with my charecter defects and for strenth and understanding! I go to church every sunday and bible study on monday. I pray that she will come home and make us a family again!(read my posts). I pray about 100 xs a day if not more. Sometimes I feel pathetic for doin it, but I love her and want us together again. So far I would have to say its doin well for me. She claims see shes changes in me for the good. So maybe its Gods work I dont know but it cant hurt the situation any!! Good luck and I would if I were you! It helps

I haven't prayed in that way. If you want to get your ex back you can pray for that. Be specific with names and timeframes. Whenever I think about it

I realize that I must really need to move on because I'm not willing to pray for God to save our marriage. I believe in prayer.

Prayers always seem to go unanswered, I wonder why that is?

Yes, even though I'm agnostic, during the crux of my hearbreak I found myself praying anyway, it was my last hope to bring us back together and I did it many times.

Cheers!

The first time I was really broken hearted was a fantastic lesson in having faith that things happen for the best. I hoped, prayed, voodooed to get my ex back. He came back. He slept with me, left me for someone else. They were together for 4 years. They had a child together. He was a terrible boyfriend and partner. He was of absolutely no help with the child and ended up cheating on her.

To this day I am thankful my prayer didn't come true.

Same here.....:)

Remember that One day someone will walk into your life and make you see why it never worked out with anyone else..

This is my opinion on why prayers are not answered.. because there are other plans for us in the future that don't include the past.

Well, I haven't prayed to get back together with Denver guy specifically.

But... I have prayed that if we were meant to be together, to help us find the way.

I've done that tons of times.

I've gone to church for that even, tons of times..

I think you can pray for anything you want. Free will -- There is no big plan that God has for you. You make your own plan and God helps you along the way. The question isn't if God will give you what you want. it's are you willing to recieve what you are asking for? Most people don't get what they are asking for because they are not ready to receive it.

Becareful what you ask for, you just might get it!

Yes, I prayed. Mainly because this guy showed up at the church I told him I attended to meet for the first time and then come to find out, he had been there the first time I ever went there way back in March. He claimed he prayed to God (prior to me) to open and close doors and windows that needed be and then I answered his ad and he claimed he prayed about our relationship. Several years ago, I had made a list to God so to speak on what I wanted in a man and this man fit it all. If that aint God, I dont know what is but I still have trouble understanding why God has *done this*. I HATE hearing people say *In His time*, if its not meant to be, etc..........

I pray every single day. I dont pray to get back together with him. I pray for God to restore my relationship with my ex. Right now, the relationship is almost non existant. We hardly talk to eachother anymore. Before we started going out, we were really really close and now i feel like hes a complete stranger. I guess thats the way it always is but i cant stand to lose my relationship with him. And since ive been praying, the relationship has gotten better. A lot better. and Im thankful for that. Ill always have the hope that we will be together again someday. But i trust that God will do whats best.

Proverbs 3:5 and 6

"Trust int he Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

God knows you better than you know yourself. You want things to happen in His timing. Why wouldn't you if God wants what is best for you? I would much rather wait for God to send me the woman He feels I should be with.. rather than be with a woman I think is perfect for me.

I believe prayers are a waste of time, but even with my skepticism I found my self on my knees at the end of my relationship. :o

Heed this warning.

I am not religious, yes i have prayed to get them back (contradiction), sometimes they have come back, sometimes not, when they did come back it was never right that they did, because here i am more dis-heartened by love than i was ever before.

I'm sure everyone here has prayed to get their ex back. I did in the beginning. Now I pray for guidance in doing the right thing and for the health of my family, friends and people who have it worse than me.

A LOT of people think prayer is a waste of time, because people have this mis-conception that God is some magic genie, that grants wishes to all those whom ask. Understand that God answers ALL prayers, and in HIS timing. He encourages us to pray to Him. If you didn't get what you asked for, God did answer your prayer. He said no.
