Walk Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 I realized that I've been awol for a while, and thought I'd just post a quick update for those of you who remember me. Things got really really bad, and I moved all my stuff out. We'd decided to have one last talk about things... I set out exactly what I expected as far as behavior from him, he laid out what he expected from me. We discussed both sides, and agreed that we'd take the steps necessary to meet those. Not "we'd try", but "we will". Anyway, things have been going awesome for a while now. Can't remember exactly how long... but about 8-10 months. We still have disagreements, but the way they're handled is such a vast improvement over the way things were that it's almost like a different relationship. I even had to pinch myself a few times to make sure this was real. I also got a job as a programmer/analyst after graduation last spring. As a cobol programmer. Just got a new job as an asp.net/vb.net developer and I am sooooooo in over my head!! But it's really close to home and I have a ton more time to do things I actually want to do now. So I'm thinking about going for a J.D. this coming year. And the bf bought me a really nice diamond ring, and proposed. Then told me he'd happily change his last name to mine if that is what I wanted. And I just thought that was the bomb. I had to get off LS though in order to get my life in order. I seem to use this place as an excuse not to do things. I just sit here and complain, and I don't change the things that I'm complaining about. Plus, I had to figure out what was right for me and my situation without everyone elses opinions (even if they are very good opinions). Hope every one had a great Christmas! I scanned through and saw Art Critic is having a kid?? Wow! Congratulations Art! Best wishes to everyone else who has helped me with my numerous problems in the past (you know who you are ).

Just earlier today I wondered what had become of you... thanks for giving us an update! I'm really happy to hear that you guys managed to work things out! Congrats on the job and on the engagement. Sometimes it is healthy to take a step back from this place to learn again how to think on our own. I'm glad that worked for you. But you should stay awhile, if only to advise others. You give great advice.

Hi Walk... that is great news.. thanks for the update.. I have wondered at times what happened to you.. I'm sooo glad you grab the bull by the horns and made it work .. even if it meant that you dumped the crutch of LS to do it.. I'm so happy for you both... I wish you both many happy memories and come back and give us updates.. and yes.. He is due on Feb 29th...Thanks for the congrats... Married and a kid in the last year... I'm growing up .. We can't wait for him to come and my wife can't wait for him to come out .. Last night was spent washing all the new baby sheets and stuff for his room and crib and setting more stuff up:).

LOL moldy food!! Just because the other molds (programmers) leave it alone does not mean it is the supermold (antibiotics) LOL

I chalked your absence up to the stresses of your new employment, but did worry what toll it had taken on your relationship. Congrats for having the courage to make the necessary changes (without LS!) and ultimately reaping the benefits you have shared here. I appreciate the update and wish you every happiness in '08 and beyond.
