Legend Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Being alone Christmas definitely suck and got me thinking... Somehow "to commit" is instinctively associated with "crime". Maybe that's why we are so afraid of it. We should change the wording. No seriously.... I sometimes want to find the sturdiest wall in my house and bang my head on it for a few hours just to lose my memory and forget how stupid people are nowadays when it comes to love. Everyone is looking for love but less and less people seem to find it. Or so they think. See, the problem is, they don't know it when they find it. They have a certain preconception of what love is supposed to be and when they meet someone they really like, someone they love to spend time with, someone they can talk to and be themselves with, someone they just plain love to be around, after a while they start looking for imperfections (that man is heir to) and saying unintelligible things like "Oh, this can't be the one. I mean, I like him/her and all, but I can't seem to feel that holy sensation of complete and incessant emotional and physical Utopia that people present love to be." By "people" of course we mean the Media. The fairytales and chick flicks that have constructed our steady conception of what love should be. For the guy: She must shine with diamonds all around, walk like a graceful Caravel on Mediterranean waves during sunset, have stars for eyes, a perfect body etc etc. Anyway, just imagine Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, a tint of Angelina Jolie and the selflessness of Mother Theresa and you'll get the picture. Actually, Edgar Allan Poe's Ligeia would work too, but the problem is, he was sniffing opium when he hallucinated her Divine presence. For today's girls it's no different. He must be tall, muscular, intelligent, funny, charming, romantic, self-confident, secure, caring, thoughtful, well-equipped, established, yadda yadda yadda. The bottom line is, he should be the Prince on a White Horse, (or preferably a white Mercedes to accommodate the era.) So, these ideals permeate the back of our heads through our life journey and, **** up our relationships. Instead of concentrating on each other's merits, we start dwelling on the imperfections. So we start thinking, "I need to experience other people. Maybe someone else will be closer to my ideal." So, we dump the person just so we could jump from bed to bed "experiencing" people and in the end, when we realize that the Prince or the Princess on a white Mercedes don't exist, we think of the fools we've been. Don't get to that stage. "Experiencing" makes you superficial. It makes sex redundant and less meaningful. So, if you find that person, just hold on to them for a while and give them all you've got and their merits and imperfections might teach you many things about yourself.
Nemo Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 I sometimes want to find the sturdiest wall in my house and bang Tell me about it. For today's girls it's no different. He must be tall, muscular, intelligent, funny, charming, romantic, self-confident, secure, caring, thoughtful, well-equipped, established, yadda yadda yadda. Is this in order of priority? In order of importance? Because I checked through the whole list, and I am not tall. Anyway, great post. There's something for everyone. Now I'm off to screw something into the wall.
D-Lish Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 I'm off to slam back vodka shots and watch it's a wonderful life by myself.

Author Legend Posted December 25, 2007 Author Posted December 25, 2007 hahahaha i could go for a few female angels right about now...
underpants Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 That was a great post. Maturity is a good thing. Personally, I cringe if someone tells me that they have a Mercedes. I have always thought that a best friend and a lover combined would make the ultimate relationship. However, I have been abandoned for an illusion a couple of painful times. If you find someone that you have a great connection with and the two of you can 'be real' with each other. Only a fool would let that go. The problem with fools is that they think they can get it back after they toss it.
Nemo Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 The problem with fools is that they think they can get it back after they toss it. Most dudes can make lots more where that came from. Oh... fools. Not tools. Sorry.

Don't panic if you see stars. I know that if I see stars that it's probably just the vodka talking. If the stars start talking to me- it's the crack talking. It's a merry-crack-christmas.
Nemo Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 The fool becomes the tool. "I was a very depressed person," she explains, "and I was panicking about everything, and I was scared about things and I was very vulnerable. And in order to compensate for that I went for optimism." The depression, she says, was rooted in the isolation she felt growing up, when she was popular with her peers "but at the same time I felt that I had a world in me that I couldn't share. And so that was the loneliness - the loneliness was created because of that. So all my life I was feeling a touch lonely until I met John. And of course John was like that too."http://arts.guardian.co.uk/features/story/0,,1505281,00.html
