hey all... long time since i posted.

last sunday i was ironing and the iron fell atop my hand. i now have a burn that is about 2 inches long and almost an inch "thick".

maybe 30 minutes after the initial burn it blistered, and then the next morning those blisters popped themselves, and then the skin peeled off.

i could see little speckles in the burn, which could be hair folicles or sweat glands... i dunno. i think it is only second degree, but my mother was telling me since i have bony hands, it may be a 3rd degree burn.

i have had it bandaged since then, and i am applying bacytracin to it 2 times daily.

i am on the fence as to whether i should go to the doctor.... and it just so happens my PCP just retired or something but there is another guy that is taking his patients.

any advice or experiences with moderately severe burns and treatment?

i have a picture, from last week and i can show you one from today too, if that will help.

i will put a link up after i get back from my lunch break.

I had a 2nd degree burn on the back of my leg about 4"x4", from my pant leg catching on fire (don't ask ).

Keep it clean and let it air out until the burn is dry. Infection is what you're concerned about. If it starts to infect, go see your doctor.

Btw, it took about 5 years for the burn mark to completely disappear, so don't be surprised about this.

thanks TBF!

i am keeping an eye out for infection, that is what all my emt and nurse friends have told me.

but for treatment every person i have asked has told me something different.

if anything i will probably wait until after christmas and go to the walk in clinic.

i am a little worried about scarring too, but i am not a hand model or anything, so it is a very secondary concern.
