Well if you know you won't be seeing her around at all then I guess you could give it a try and ask for the number. What you say when you call would be pretty important so give that some thought first.

one more thing though, I had asked her for her number but I really had to rush so I'd told her I'd get in touch with her later.

Aaron, I think it would be just fine fo ryou to ask for her phone number and give her a call. You may have to remind her of where you met her/who you are but just go for it! And yes, you should do it soon.
