PandorasBox Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 I know this might sound kind of weird, but I was just wondering, how do you know if you have gained weight from it just being fat or if its water weight? I have gained a few pounds here and there, and I love salt. I know to much salt is bad for you, for lots of reasons, one being high blood pressure. I don't put salt on my foods, I don't cook with salt, but I do eat processed foods which contains right much salt and I like things like chips too. So how do you know if its water retention or fat? I heard if its water weight that it is what can cause cellulite, but not sure.
get.mos Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 hmm, doesn't water weight go away w/in 24 hours? and i believe fat can look like cellulite, not just water retention. what kind of exercise do you do?
norajane Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Water weight fluctuates. If you weigh yourself a few times during the day, you'll see your weight change from right when you wake up in the morning on an empty stomach, and throughout the day. It can also cause your weight to fluctuate every day. Fat does not fluctuate like that, and neither does muscle or bone. If you want to know what your 'real' weight is, weigh yourself each day for a week, and then take the average of those 7 days. That will account for water fluctuations. Cellulite is fat bulging up between the connective tissue. Water does not cause cellulite, but if you are retaining water, it can cause the fat to look plumper and bulge more, making the cellulite more apparent.
