I know that there are a couple of types of creatine some better than others. Anybody have any insight? Any Bad experiences?

I tried creatine once, when I was going through my body building phase a few years ago... All I can say is that it made me ill, like having a really bad hangover. Which isn't surprising because pretty much what it does is cause your muscles to retain more water, hence more overall mass. Didn't care for it myself, but YMMV.

Creatine is a small percent of the puzzle but will give you alittle help assuming diet and training is in order. Take CEE 6g a day and i'd get pill form since the powder doesn't taste good at all.

Probably were on mono which does give a number of people cramping/bloating problems.

You're right, get teh CEE....as a many who has experimented with a great many strenght enhancers....they are kind of worth it. IF i was you I would skip any NO products, waste of money IMO.

they do in fact boost NO levels, however practically normally that just means increased vascularity or a longer "pump". I just don't see the long term benefits, I guess the only one would be due to increased vascularity, it helps with nurtient absorbtion and delivery. I just would think if you're trying to get bigger/stronger, the money could be better spent on fish, lean meats, etc.

Hi,

IMO Creatine is a waste of money. It might add some water and supplement companies might state that you will add muscle faster, but you won't. Stick to the proper eating and consistenty in training for real muscle gains.

Chiming in here late but my husband took Creatine awhile ago. Not sure what format but he bought it at GNC. It made his hair fall out and just made him overall sick. It doesn't have this affect on everyone though, but it did him.

I'm sorry i couldn't look past this post. If i'm out of line with this post let me know. I mainly get on the net to jump on bodybuilding boards (obviously being a bodybuilder) so i have read almost anything (and tried anything and everything at one point ;))and everything for many many years.

I seriously doubt Creatine did that to your husband. It would not surprise me in the slightest if he was taking steroids (which speed up hair loss in those prone to it) and took Creatine to cover for any weight gain so you, his wife, did not suspect anything or linked any weight gain to the Creatine. I cannot even think how many times i have heard men say they are doing this on the boards.

Creatine is a very basic thing, i have never heard of any negative side effects apart from water bloat, and maybe a bit of cramping due to the bloat. Never ever ever losing hair or getting sick but losing hair and getting sick when taking the gear? Bingo (a common thing when you start a cycle of steroids is 'test flu' and personally i could never get away from it).

Anyway sorry to be so blunt, while i don't think Creatine is a useful supplement, aside from maybe vegertarians, i don't think this should be put up as something it can do to a user.

Well, no offense to you either, but you're making some strong assumptions that maybe you should think twice about posting. You're implying that my husband is lying to me. That takes balls my friend.

Anyway, you're wrong. How's that for being blunt? I didn't even know my husband when he took Creatine. This was many years before I met him.

Secondly, your assumptions make it seem like you know my husband. What type of person takes steroids? Apparently you think my husband falls into that category. My husband was like 19 at the time, working full time and working out with his friend on the weekends at eachother's houses.

I just talked to him via phone and he said he took Creatine that he bought at GNC but it wasn't the GNC brand. He also took Chromium Picolinate along with it and that was it. He seriously has no reason to lie. He said that his friend suffered from stomach cramps from it so they both stopped taking it.

Believe what you want to assume though. This is taken right from a Men's Health magazine:

"there have been anecdotal reports of kidney damage, heart problems, muscle cramps and pulls, dehydration, and diarrhea, in addition to other negative side effects. The key word here: anecdotal.

Some of these conditions can be caused by consuming too much of certain vitamins, says Tod Cooperman, M.D., president of ConsumerLab.com. "Too much vitamin C can cause diarrhea, and too much iron may lead to stomach problems," he says.

To be safe, he recommends using creatine only if you are healthy and have no kidney problems. That's because your kidneys excrete creatinine, a breakdown product of creatine."

So basically what the article is saying is people still report extreme side effects from Creatine's use but it is most likely attributed to something else. Who really knows though? I stand by what I said and by what my husband says. If you still insist he's a liar, well that's on you but my husband's story is true.

I used Creatine for a while a couple of years ago. I was kind of peaking in my resistance training regiman and thought this might give me a boost. To be honest, it wasn't for me. I can definitely see the benefit for an athelete that has a need for increased performance levels. I was definitely stronger and could perform at a higher level, but I don't see a long-term benefit. You have to stay on the stuff to see the benefit.

I was just working out for fitness and appearance reasons. I had no real reason to be able to lift 10 extra pounds. To each his own though.

When I used to hit the gym the only supplement I ever took was whey protein. IMHO, that should be the only supplement you'll ever need to build muscles...not weight gainer, not creatine.

Keep in mind that all supplements should be taken carefully. Overdose of Whey can lead to liver damage. Overdose of Creatine can lead to Kidney damage. I researched at one point and considered creatine when I used to hit the gym, I felt the potential of harming the body was not worth it to implement a new supplement into my diet.

Supposedly Creatine allows your cells to hold an extra bit of water. So after taking it, you look slightly tad bigger from the ability of your body cells holding that extra water and perhaps doing an extra curl or 2, but again imo it's not worth it.
