marlena Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 I just had my ovarian ceased removed last week laparoscopically. Plus I had a D&C. All were sent for biopsy. The cyst was benign but the biopsy showed that I have simple hyperplasia. This means (I think) that the uterus's lining is too thick due to an overproduction of estrogen. My doctor has put me on progesterone in order to counter the dominance of estrogen. I can't help wondering if he should have gone ahead with a hysterectomy as the first doctor suggested. I am trying to keep calm bit truth be told, the whole thing is scaring the SH** out of me. The more I read on the net the more paranoid I become. Can this estrogen hyperplasia lead to cancer of the uterus? Can anyone clue me in to what the heck this is all about?

You can only gain so much from the internet. It sucks that you have to worry about this though. Your doctor should've done a better job of assuaging any fears you have.
Author marlena Posted November 27, 2007 Author Posted November 27, 2007 Thanks Ocean - blue Yes, he should have! Some of these doctors have become so desensitized that they hardly remember they are dealing with human beings! He was the doctor I went to for a second opinion and the one I trusted my surgery to. Perhaps my fears are groundless but still I worry! Thanks for replying! Of course I'll call him again.

It is your body and you have every right to get as much info as possible (hopefully you either have insurance or there is state-provided health care access). Try not to allow yourself to think the worst. We are always our worst enemies. Your mind will screw with you... My suggestion is that you try to find a good doctor (via word of mouth) - if that is possible. Also, you could always ask this doctor to do a reassessment or at the least explain EXACTLY what it is that is going on. As your doctor, he had a duty to explain things to you in a clear and comprehensive fashion (especially since surgery was involved).
