pcherokee Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 Hey everyone, quick summery: Ok, I've been going out with this amazing girl for almost a year and 4 months now. We're still crazy about each other like you wouldn't believe, talked about marriage and all that mumbo jumbo. Our relationship has been 11 months long distance out of the about 15. She has been studying for her masters in another city since I started dating her, and last September, I came overseas to Netherlands to get MY masters in 2 years. It was something I always wanted to do, and we had some difficult discussions about it before I left. In the end, she is okay with it - it sucks - but she said she would move over here after she's done with school. (thats a maybe now) Well - it turned out school blows, and I'm dropping out to get a job in a VERY famous unbelievable architecture firm in the Netherlands. Lets say I get the job for argument sake, but it's very demanding. It's about 80-100 hours a week and it would put a serious damper on our already LDR. I would barely have time to talk to her - at least much less than I am now. She doesn't want me to take the job, and I'm also worried as well. (I would take it for sure if I wasn't going out with her). If I took the job, it would be for around 6-12 months, then I'd go home to her! So has anyone here been in this hard situation? Does taking a huge job opportunity a big selfish thing to do in this situation, or should I give my girl a break - since I already made it difficult for us coming overseas. I guess I could wait and see what other jobs I could get... Also, I don't think I can foresee how difficult it can be for us... any opinions?
