I'm posting this in the coping section because I know checking up on exes online is one way we "cope," lol. I just found my ex on match.com. I have an old account that I never used (never created a profile) but the account name is something he could pretty much immediately identify as me.

So I checked out his profile, thinking I was anonymous. Since I've never had a paid account with match.com, I don't know how much info an account holder can have re: who visits, etc. If all I did was click on his photo to view his profile, while signed in, will he know that I saw his profile?

My face is white as a sheet right now. I'm totally embarrassed; I hope I didn't just make myself look completely pathetic to him that I checked out his profile all these months later... Please assuage (or confirm) my fears!

Thanks :o

Anyone? Did I just make a major gaffe and inadvertently inform my ex that I read his dating profile, thus confirming that I'm NOT over him and maybe causing him to block me? Please, anyone who knows how match.com works...tell me if account-holders can know who checked out their profile!

I'm not too sure but if I am not mistaken, paid members have the ability to check on who viewed them etc. NOT TOO SURE but that was what my aunt told me when she found out who has been checking hers out. Please don't panic because I am not sure!

Why don't you go to match.com and read the terms & conditions or the benefits of becoming a paid member? You might be able to get something out of it.

Even if . . . I would say you can go to sleep with calm. Even if he can see that you checked him out enough time has passed that he would not be able to know with certainty that you have been obsessing over him these last few months. You could always play it off as "just curious".

I'm pretty sure that if you click on someone's picture while you're signed in, you will show up under the "who's viewed you". It's next to your portrait and you can view anyone who's taken a look at your portrait. Now, I know this only for a paid account because I made the mistake of accidentally clicking on my ex's picture. If it's a non-paid account, I'm not sure what to tell you.
