how to deal when ex begins sleeping/seeing another woman

Any suggestions for getting thru this? My ex (after 8.5 years together) has been sleeping with a woman in our group of extended friends (obviously she's no longer my friend). He says he's not doing this anymore but of course he'd say this- I'm sure he still is. I can't stop him obviously, so my question is how do I stop thinking about them together, get past the excruciating pain of it, and move on with my life? I'm still not over him- it'll take me years to do this even if he wasn't seeing anyone. Anyone else been thru this? HELP!!!!!!

I have been in this situation and it is not nice. When you are lonely and missing them, all you can think of is them doing what they once done with you, with someone else - the pain is excruciating.

 

I dont think I ever really got over it and still got the odd pang of jealousy/anger/hurt months and months later......I occasionally still do (after 18 months), however I got back with my ex and we have just broke up again, so here we go again. You just have to learn not to think about it, it does lessen with time.

 

There will come a stage where you realise your own health......both mental and physical is a lot more important than anything else. Its a tough cookie to swallow and it just takes time.

 

Stay strong and try to keep yourself occupied as much as you can.

shayna, I'm really sorry to hear about your situation, it sucks big time but it happens to all of us. people move on and it is upsetting because it means a definite end to the relationship. one day it will happen when you move on sooner and the other person will be upset. just try not to dwell on it if possible. unfortunately this is nature's way.

Thanks guys- it always helps to hear that others have dealt with it. I'm REALLY not doing well today- even thinking of quitting school- a program that I tried for four years to get into. I just can't concentrate!!!
